Hyundai Santa Fe 2014 brake light switch replacement

Couldn’t find anything on the internet about replacing this switch. It may not be the right way, but I wanted people to have a starting point for this job, it’s my first video. The clips holding the panels in are tight. Triple check that you have all the screws out and get pulling on it. It went back together surprisingly easy. The other thing I did that I did not mention was pull the pin that was in the brake pedal to give it some more play while working. Nuts are 10mm.

Thanks for showing how that switch unlocks. With knowing how to move it around I was able to feel around under the dash and do it without having to pull out the airbag and lower dash cover. Turned out the part was good. Just had to be readjusted.

Thank you, your video was very helpful cuz I always think there is more Tolland the panels on than actually are. So you probably saved me at least an hour just by knowing which bolts to take out!

I went through the process today and my switch was good and with further inspection I saw that the brake switch stopper was no longer there. I fixed that problem with a bolt, two washers and a nut.

Thanks for all the tips. I was able swap out my switch without removing the dash panels. I did need to unplug a control module on order to reach it. Easy fix.

This has been a great help. How do you get the sensor out? I turn it the quarter turn, but it doesn't really slide up and down. Is there a pin or something holding it in?

When i slid the plastic clip i was able to 1/4 turn and slide it off. I don’t remember doing anything else to get it undone

Hello guys. I hope you check this. I have put in the new sensor for my hyundai sante fe sport 2013. But, no brake lights are coming on. I did read how I have to reset the electronics. I turned the ignition to aux, then put my foot on the brake for 10 seconds then opened and closed the door. This did not reset it. So, then I read I could do a reset by unplugging the battery and holding the brake down for 30 seconds to drain any electrical memory. But this reset did not work either. So now I am leaving the battery off to see if the electronics and computer reset overnight. What a huge pain in the butt. My dealer wanted to charge 145 dollars an hour to fix this in my car.

There is a plastic plug that prevents the switch plunger from going through the metal plate on pedal. If this is gone, which was my case, the plunger stays extended and the brake lights stay on. It is a dealer only item.

My lights were out completely due to this. I would push the pedal and lights would not illuminate.

Just did this procedure. What you didn't include is how to remove the computer module which blocks the brake light switch unit. Thanks for the effort though.
