Not necessarily as it uses the brakes without the driver knowing and will cause a lot of excess wear for the vehicle...not safer as the car does things without notifying the driver, same with the emergency brake is electric what happened to the idea of a redundant brake systems this one will not work with any failure of the electrical system, how do you exit the vehicle when there is not any way to unlock the doors from the inside when the battery is dead are passengers trapped in the car?? None of this is address by the over 500 pages of operating manual...technology out of control we will see how this plays out...not good so far...

You can feel when it's braking and the vehicle braking automatically is the draw for adaptive cruise. If you were using regular cruise you'd have to brake yourself so there really isn't any different. There's always the option of setting your follow distance to 4 so that the braking isn't as heavy. Plus you can always just turn off the added safety braking if you really don't want to use it. Getting out of any car with a dead battery is going to depend on the model you have. Most interior handles are mechanical so you can just pull the handle to unlock and get out. If none of the doors are working and you can't press the unlock button, you'd have to get into the trunk and use the release to open it up manually
