use a screw driver, put the pointy end on the highpressure or which ever the noise is and at the end of the screw driver put your ear and you can literally hear it if the noise is coming from that area :)

I’m having this issue right now and let me tell you you will know when I hear it it’s not a feint or a slight noise it sounds like a someone’s shaking a socket inside your fuel pump with a maraca right next to your ear

Just replaced the high pressure pump last week following the info on this video, it was easy and now the rattle noice is gone and engine is much quieter. Thank you for sharing your knowledge it probably saved me thousand of dollars in repairs.

Update.....rattle noice is back after two weeks of happiness. Any suggestion on what to do next?

If you know how, I'd check your spark plugs (on a cold engine!!!, especially on this aluminum engines). Sometimes they can get loose. Might as well check your ignition coils too, although those wouldn't necessarily be causing the issue of ticking directly.

A person that is good with a stethoscope could use it to pinpoint that the noise is coming from the high pressure pump. Good vids guys.

I have a rattle noise on my 2012 Hyundai sonata gls. It rattles when I drive at low speeds then goes away. Mechanics said it was serpentine belt pulleys so he replaced those and the belt. Problem never went away. It does sound like it's coming from under the valve cover.

Ok so the camshaft fuel pump follower needs to be replaced because of the rattle noise. Do I have to replace the high pressure fuel pump also or is that still good. Please get back to me. The fuel pump is expensive so hopefully I don't have to replace that also

The fuel pump is available in ebay for around $100. Looks like its easy to replace while changing the cam follower.

Was hoping to actually hear the noise because my mom's 2018 Hyundai SE has a slight rattling sound when she accelerates and the car kind of jerks at slower speeds (like her 2012 Nissan Altima used to do with that horrid CVT but not as bad, just kind of like a little hiccup feeling at slow speeds).

@@pamelagreen3511 It's making a rattling sound when you accelerate? Right now it isn't doing it constantly, which is good, but there's something new and weird happening lol. It sounds like someone is hitting on the glass in the rear, like a random POP sound but not a backfire noise (nor is the check engine light on). It really sounds like someone is standing outside the car and just hits the rear window one time or like a good size rock is hitting the window. It happens when the car is at a standstill or moving, so that doesn't seem to be a factor. Doesn't happen constantly, just randomly but it's weird. The car runs great, idles perfect, gets good gas mileage (thank goodness with these insane gas prices) but these random noises are annoying lol.

@@DarlingNikki2 Yeah , not real loud but it's noticable. The knocking part I thought it was me. I'm in traffic waiting at the light and thought someone hit the car so my crazy Alabama ass jumps out fronting folks for hitting a car they didn't hit. Anyway I'm working on finding out what this rattling and noises are.

Nice so mine those like a disel when I come to a complete stop and when I press the gas it stops can I just change the fuel pump follower or do I have to change the whole fuel pump car runs perfectly just the noise everything to a complete stop

Did you guys fix this issue? Mine has been rattling for about a week now. I still can’t pinpoint the noise but I do notice it gets louder when I remove the plastic cover so it must be from that fuel pump.

Have a 2014 Hyundai sonata 2.0 turbo it's got a knocking noise and won't drive now over 40 mph and when trying to accelerate it takes off very slowly but once it gets going it would do all right but you can't get over haven't been driving it I went and called and found out the two codes is basically saying something about a camshaft valve and also the other one is a knock sensor does that mean that the engine is blown and it's going to have to be repaired

Thanks for the educational vids. I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Limited regular engine without Turbo. I noticed the car shakes once I get to 1500 RPM. I felt it more on the steering but it vibrates the entire car mildly. I feel it more as the driver because of the steering vibration. Car has a new engine replaced by Hyundai but they used all the other parts from previous engine. I thought it was the tires imbalance but I stopped the car and raised the RMP to about 1500 RPM and I feel a mild shake. I thought it was old spark plugs used and they were new when they replaced the engine… I bought new ones and replaced to make sure and it still vibrates at about the same RPM. The vibration comes and goes in every less then 10 seconds. When on higher speed/ RPM, I don’t feel it much but it’s still there coming and going within 5-10 seconds. Can someone please advise what it could be? It’s a new engine but they reused the other components IE alternator, a/c etc. I am tempted to use a PEA fuel injector cleaner but I am afraid because they installed a new engine. Any one else seen this or has a solution? Please help. Thanks

Heyy i have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0 turbo , my steering would vibrate every time I floored it I ended up having to replace the clock spring and the steering column coupler . It stopped vibrating. Hopefully that helps 😊

I have a 2009 and my noise comes when I step on the brake with it in drive or reverse. It only does it when the ac is on and or heat yet the top 2 or 3 functions do not do it. Its super werid. My guy checked the pulley. cat, muffers and engine mount before I found out that if I turn off the ac it does not do it. We tried to get it to make the sound when we were with him last and I turned off the air so we could hear better. Well that was indeed the reason why we could not hear it. Any one know what the cause could be. Couple of things I might try is replacing the compressor clutch, replacing the pulley, changing the belt off, check all the mounts for ac stuff. I have a feeling that it might be the compressor clutch. Yet I am not sure why it would do it when the heat is on as well?
