Thanks bud, I'm looking to buy a used motor and now this is very helpful for reverse tear down. Much love to your works on 2.4L 4gkj engine.

man oh man is this a lot of work lol... very good videos... my 2013 started eating water and every valve cover 10mm bolt was loose .. I tightened them down and it still eats water.. no visible drips or steam.. nothing in exhaust I can see either... very weird... so I went out and bought new vcg and head cover gasket but after all the time watching you I think I will just go get an uber now... I can't afford a shop to do it and I really don't have the physical ability to get into the engines anymore.. ugh. Disabled veterans don't get paid much... gotta make do with what I can with what health and abilities I have I guess.

My 2015 2.4 Sonata with 30k miles had a small coolant leak behind the engine (external) from the factory. I think it leaks only when the engine is revved. Does anyone know if it's something to be worried about in the long term ?

A couple things, when you surfaced the head, you never mentioned checking if there was any warp of the block side. What if they were equally warped and fit together well and now you just took the low side out of the middle so now the edges don't seat tight? Also, I was always taught once you used your torque wrench to a specific number never to use it to tighten things beyond the specified torque. Using a breaker bar to get those 90 degree turns would help keep your torque wrench within spec longer. Great I formative video!

How do you know if your timing is good or not. I bought this 99 Cadillac and the guy told me it needs head gaskets so I’m in the process of doing that. I’ve turned the crank probably 3 times maybe 4. The marks on the sprockets haven’t lined up yet. Maybe I need to turn more to see if they line up. I hope so.

Before tear down, you always take picture of it's final position. Because once you reassemble, you must line everything up to the previous final point to run into the factory specs.

Careful that you mark the timing chain before removing. Watch the installation before removing

Be sure to use the 12 point tool mentioned and shown in the video to remove the head cylinder bolts DO NOT ATTEMPT USE A 6 POINT HEX TOOL even if it fits. This will result in a shearing or breaking of the head cylinder bolts. DANGER!!!

Is it me or is that engine FILTHY as i having not many oil changes??
@610610billy6106106 ай бұрын
Honestly it's probably from oil consumption. Mine looks bad and I do oil changes on time, with high quality oil.
