I 3D printed a 1/35 Scale Model - Uniformation GK Two - 1/35 WW2 Diorama

This project is the result of my being contacted by Uniformation, a 3D printer manufacturer, asking if I'd like to try their GK Two 8K resolution resin printer. I've had resin 3D printers for a while and love how you can use them to add accessories and detail to both models and dioramas but they have always been a bit temperamental in setting them up to print successfully. I can report though that the GK Two is the easiest resin printer to use that I have owned so far. It has performed flawlessly and has been a pleasure to use straight out of the box and the only issues I have had were setting up print supports correctly for the model.
The printer was shortly dispatched and the day it arrived I was keen to start exploring what it could offer me as a scale modeller. After an hour of familiarising myself with the various functions, I was printing my first successful prints. The GK Two is a great addition to my modelling tool set and I can personally recommend it as a great 3D printing option especially if like me, you like things to work straight from the box 👍

Also a quick mention for Faustusmodels who's 3D design for a 'what if' German Flakpanzer 38D Kugelblitz is excellent and produces a very detailed model.
Whilst I have had fun with this project and its different approach to building a scale model, I think in all honesty 3D printed models are not quite as much fun as traditional plastic kits and are not as adaptable due to the resin being more brittle than plastic. That said it is something I will try again in the future.

Thanks for posting CW. Seeing how far 3D printing has come on is very impressive. Just ordered the Takom version of this model to make sometime in the future so loved seeing this printed before my eyes. Wont be too many years before injection moulding becomes a dinosaur. Great video and your work finishing was excellent. 👍

Whilst i love my 3D printing for producing upgrades and diorama accessories I don't think it will be replacing plastic kits any time in the future. For one there is the expense of a decent printer and resins, then there's all the mess involved with cleaning the prints and then there's the time to print all the parts......The convenience of a kit in a box is what most people, including myself love.....saying that it was a fun project but I don't want to be doing another 3D printed kit just yet, lol 👍

the Takom version is a modified Hetzer, this here is a Panzer38D the intended simplified german produced Panzer38

Well... the model cost over$48, and then you have what, $4-5 worth of resin before you can start building (ie, at the same stage as when opening a new kit)? That is unfortunately quite expensive for a resin kit so saving money can't be the main goal. I find that details are a much better choice to print for boxed kits, like fuel cans and the like, since you will always need more of that, but how many kugelblitz tanks do you want to build?

Amazing! Hint, would think that whatever "real" tubing material (ie from a plastic Q-Tip or real brass) would be of use bc a bended cannon looks kinda weird to me (especially if you see both ones in parallel @ 50:58). Thx, for showing your workflow !

Thanks.....My point was to show the options for dealing with sanding resin but maybe it didn't come across as two options.......I think it would have been irresponsible of me not to highlight the issue. I also decided not to show any alterations to the printed kit but unfortunately resin does have a tendency to warp sometimes.
