That hemispherical reflector is the wrong shape and size. First and foremost it should be parabolic. Secondly, it should be large enough to reflect the wavelength of the EM pulse that your generator produces. At the very minimum you'll want to use an old satellite TV dish. Yes, it would make your EMP generator large and difficult to move around, but you will be able to destroy electronic devices at a much greater distance than with that tiny reflector you decided to use. Except for that detail, you did an AWESOME job on the overall design of this project!

Bro thank you for your comment! You're totally right. The main Impulse Frequency of my EMP Device ist round about 1.5MHz and the harmonics of this freq. This causes of a wavelenght of I dont know, maybe 100 meters? Haha sooooo huge, such a small mirror can't bundle this huge waves in a efficient way. Its all about the principle Bro. I will make an extra video about it. Really appreciate your support! Have a nice Christmas time!!! Greetings from Germany ;)

@@Teslaundmehr Let me note please, such narrow-angle diagram EMP sources (or pulsed UWB RF source so) use a long and bulky TEM-horn antenna or dipole resonating array and usually have a main peak about 1-2 GHz. As usual such systems are feeding with marx-pulser, Blumlein DFL, VIG and so on - there is a really big number of pulsed exciters for antenna pumping. Exploding wires were popular in the 60-th like a simple and easy to implement opening-switch topology. Later it was replaced by SOS-diodes, which are basically DSRD`s "big-brothers". Also, as you may know, this circuit works in two different modes: in the first one, the storage capacitor resonates with circuit stray inductance, oscillating frequency and tank loaded Q-factor are low. In this mode the main source of EMP is spark-gap and it obviously always precedes before the wire explodes. You also can place this gap before the reflector but EMP power will be pretty low. The second one mode is oscillating both stray inductance and capacitance of the circuit after the wire explodes and the circuit becomes open. It`ll be better said that stray parameters create a transmission line with TEM-wave runs from one end to another due to reflections and generates a high-power RF-pulse which excites the antenna. So, as can be seen here, you can increase the overall efficiency of your pulser with a short piece of transmission line, which can be made with two coaxial cylinders about 300-500 mm long. And keep the parasitic LC of the discharge circuit as low as possible. Also it makes sense to pump a TEM-horn antenna directly (~1.5meters length) with a short nanosecond pulse, placing a second peaker-gap to transmission line output-end. If you still wanna use a hemisphere reflector, then make a half-wave dipole antenna in front of it, feeding it with exploding wire (approx 500 MHz center peak) and increase the reflector diameter by 3X times - the system will become much more aggressive for radiating. Anyway - well done engineering job. 3D-printing makes chassis problems really less annoying. Merry X-mas.

I see that you used a reflector made from a section of a sphere. This will cause spherical aberation on your reflected beam which will cause some de-focusing. If you can find a reflector which is a true parabola there will be no spherical aberation and you will obtain the maximum power from your beam.

And now I would like to use an EMP on it to destoy it. If you want to let me use your EMP (or the EMP of someone else) on my mouse, it would be really nice. If you don't want, where could I buy EMP that works on the internet? The one that I have bought just jam the signal and does not destroy the electronic. Thank you so much.
@MrHashmi90 Жыл бұрын
You designing skills are awesome and I really appreciate the time and effort that you have put into this. What I could understand that capacitor will charge a peaking capacitor(which is not properly visible but assuming that switch will provide that value) and this will discharge into another switch (in front of reflector) to generator nano second pulse, which will generate EMP pulse. But the question remains that will it be an efficient EMP generator? From my knowledge pico second rise time Marx generators are a good source of EMP generation. So, lets hope for the best for your this generator and in future you should target fast rise time Marx generators. If you can share the schematic of the high voltage section (to estimate the peaking capacitor value which will generate the fast rise time) it will be much helpful to understand this system properly. 🙂
@Teslaundmehr Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I really appreciate your kind words! So basically the charging circuit has no effect on the EMP section itself. The EMP is only generated by the Capacitor, the Sparkgap and the wire exploder. The circuit have a certain Inductance (very low) about 30 nH. In combination with the capacitance of the Pulscap we have an oscillating circuit. When the Sparkgap is triggerd, this oscillates at a frequency of about 1 MHz and the related harmonics. The current in the circuit rises extremly fast. At the highest peak current in the circuit the wire detonate. Because of the extrem fast collapsing field (there is no current flow anymore, because the conductive wire is detonated) a strong magnetic field is emitted. to put it in a nutshell, we have not a fast rise time, but a fast fall time ;)
@MrHashmi90 Жыл бұрын
@@Teslaundmehr So, you are using inductive pulse shaping (exploding wire) instead of capacitive pulse shaping (peaking switches). Drawback with inductive pulse shaping is repeatability but I am interested to see that what this machine is capable of. In future if you can add diagnostic probes (like voltage and current sensors) it will be very helpful in understanding the system parameters. Best of luck.
