Guy in the RV was flying towards the vehicle directly in front of him. Instead of simply slowing down, he merges to whip around him. I hate he hit you @CraigH but had you not been there, he may have killed someone in a smaller vehicle. You handled that like a pro and kept your truck under control. My hat's off to you!

So they weren't "licensed" to be driving any vehicle at all. Requiring a CDL wouldn't have stopped this moron from driving anyway as they obviously don't care about license requirements to begin with. He also didn't have insurance either. So clearly laws don't apply to this person.

Here in Canada you have to take the RV licence exam to get the endorsement on your licence if it is over a certain length/weight class or has air brakes of any kind. The RV's that are made from van chassis or small commercial style vehicles just require a normal licence.....thats why everyone holds on to all the 1980's converted ford E-350 van campers up here lol.

I hope everyone was belted in and there wasn’t anyone walking around in the back. That’s one of the worst RV crashes I’ve seen in a long time. I know they’re not built very sturdy because I live in one and I often joke that I live in a styrofoam cooler but, when you see how they turn into bits of kindling in a crash, it’s sobering. Makes me glad to be stationary! Prayers to all of those affected by this crash.

one of the habits I developed while driving and passing Semi is to go past far enough to see both headlights in the side mirror then I can merge. With a trailer that is a different story but don't do it often enough, still stay in the right lane if pulling a trailer and don't bother passing unless there is a hindering driver on the road.

One of the problems I have always been amazed about it how driving a commercial truck, whether a straight truck or semi one is REQUIRED to do training, take tests and get a CDL but at the same time they will allow ANYONE with a driver license (of course not in this particular case) to buy and operate an RV no matter WHAT THE SIZE or AGE of the DRIVER.

This was an accident waiting to happen and many could have been badly hurt and killed by that RV. At first I felt a little bad for Winnebago Man (I don't care if it's not a Winnebago, that's what I'm calling him). I mean, the driver recording is insured, as well as the truck and payload). He also has video showing he's not at fault so he'll be okay. So I felt bad for Winnebago Man, thinking there goes his retirement plans, rolling down the highway disintegrating. Then I read the description and see that the RV is uninsured and he's not supposed to be driving in ANY vehicle. So screw him, now I'm back to feeling bad for the truck driver. @southtowns joe I felt bad because it looked like an EASY mistake anybody could make. And those things are death traps. People don't think about all the horrible things that happens to any vehicle that doesn't move. Tires dry-rot. Condensation in the crank case, rubber gets brittle. Rodents build nests and chew on wires, fuel turns into a horrid sticky varnish that can cause clogs. Then when the owners don't drive them for long periods they grow less and less accustomed to driving it. Then this happens. The truck driver couldn't have safely stopped it. So yeah, at least 3 or 4 times a year start the beast up, drive it a couple hundred miles. Put the engine through some drive cycles, let it stretch its legs. That along with keeping up with the feel of driving could keep this from happening.

Most people can't judge good distance in their cars these days. I drive semi and drivers are getting worse. Anyone questioning why he immediately moved over a lane when merging on its because in a mile or two that right lane is exit only to downtown Everett. Trucks aren’t cars. You move over when you can. I've seen the aftermath when one of these rolls. There is nothing left above the floor level. Everyone inside was killed. Being belted into your seat, while essential for most crashes, won't matter when the unit rolls and the styrofoam/wood/fiberglass shell gets smashed away. Then it's just you in your seat as the thing tumbles over the pavement and roadside.

Safety. I saw a car pass me at an excessive speed weaving between a moderate amount of traffic. About 1/4 mile down the freeway it lost control, turned into an embankment on the right, flipped landing upside down in-front of a semi. Good thing the semi’s breaks worked. A few people did get out in traffic to check on the driver. I did not, instead called 911. There were apparently only two 911 calls made, the other by the truck driver.

Happened to me with a "paisano" the other day here in Mexico (they come from the US to MX at xmas) i was on my golf sportwagen TDI he was on a noob V10 ultratriton powerfuck something ford F9300, i went to the passing lane to pass him and he just accelerated, i wasnt have any of it so i let it go also, we went for about a minute at 115 - 120 mph and i just said lets see who runs out of gas first, i left him behind soon after he realized his lifted powerpenis truck would not last till the next gas station.

How can you tell that he was speeding the truck was accelerating because it just came onto the highway other cars were passing the RV at a much faster rate so that point of yours is moot. Traveling too close? Improper lane change, most likely being from that area of the Northwest he's entitled, I am sure the truck driver came off the on-ramp and probably went in front of the RV who felt he was entitled to be first because that's who they are out that way and tried to show the trucker that it's his spot and then cut over in front of him and then of course misjudged like the typical twat that he is and then wrecked his RV. Probably will blame the trucker, that's the way Americans are nowadays blame everybody else. Passive aggressive road rage that's all it was. And of course nobody stopped to help they all took out there cell phones to video it and put it on their channel so they can get their likes LOL that's what the world's coming to. I trucked for over 45 yrs. That camper is in the wrong 100 percent. But that trucker if had any experience at all probably could have avoided that. Brake hard, move right if no one was there. You always keep an eye on the vehicle passing you on the left or right because of that very thing. Only experience teaches you that. Always prepare for someone to screw up. Hopefully they lived but it doesn't look good.

Yup. While the RV caused the crash, it doesn't look like the other driver did anything to mitigate the damage by braking as soon as it was evident that there would be a collision. Possibly by doing so, it might have saved the RV from the roll-over.

This is what happens when someone applies the same mentality to driving an RV as a car. In a car people will put their car anywhere there is enough room to fit the hood, doesn't work so well with a vehicle twice as long.

When towing my trailer (45" for Jeep and Trailer), I am in the right lane or the lane next to the right lane doing about 55. It depends on the frequency of on-ramps. It is amazing how many people coming on the freeway do not notice the traffic already in the right lane and think that vehicle will do something and get out of their way.

Yes - you are correct @@daryllect6659 I have a hand injury so I have been using a speech-to-text transcription program. When I dictated "could've", the system mistakenly generated "could of". I did not have my grammar check enabled and I did not notice the mistake at the time, TFG you did before the appreciation I expressed for the gnarly video posted was misconstrued or maybe some rando would see my comment and think I did not know the English language then publicly berate me about a common grammar faux pas It's been corrected so we can now move along to less important things. I have to have a license to drive my 65 foot rig down the road but any yodel can go get a 50ft bus and pull a trailer with it down the road… still say that law needs to change. See rv accidents every week out on the road.

Pulling a set of doubles up I81 North one day had an Class A diesel pusher passing me on the left as soon as I saw their rear axle their turn signal came on. After the back of the motor home cleared my tractor they started moving into my lane but there was a Cadillac being towed and heading straight towards my tractor. Fortunately I was able to go all the way out on to the shoulder to avoid a serious wreck. Always leave yourself an out if you can.

Interesting that there’s no speed display on the dash cam. Doesn’t look to me that the dash cam driver attempted to reduce speed when he saw the RV drifting into his lane. I don’t dispute that the RV driver caused the accident, however if there was no attempt by the dash cam driver to avoid or mitigate the contact, they may be found partially liable. It’s a common law principle called the Last Clear Chance doctrine. If it’s as I think it is, I wouldn’t have posted a video. Just inviting a civil suit.

Guessing the trucker bullied his way into the merge lane in front of this RV - RV driver got mad and tried to cut off the truck who didn’t even tap the brakes as RV moved over. Typical road rage incident.

The RV was clearly at fault, but the trucker's insurance is going to look into it to determine if the crash was preventable on the trucker's end too. That goes into your driving record and many trucking firms are not allowed to hire a driver with a recent (or too many) "preventable" incidents by their insurer. People don't seem to understand that regardless of laws or fault, we have a due diligence to avoid a crash if we can do so.

you can clearly see that the truck driver is lying, you can see that he was in the slow lane that was not going to end and have to merge. he purposely changed lanes and cut off that rv. and the RV driver got road rage and was going to cut him off but he screwed up.

Everett and WA in general has gotten only crazier with the explosion in population. It hasn't been the same since the 90s. That curve around 0:18 has already been dangerous as Boeing employees merge in after 3pm and so many accidents have happened including people overshooting into northbound lane.
