8:19 Exit for the Utica cutoff, a shortcut to Vicksburg and North Louisiana from Southeast Louisiana via I-55 North to MS-27 North to I-20 West.

I've driven this interstate from Chicago to Jackson, MS. Very nice drive, especially all throughout Missouri and northern Mississippi.

Only bad thing about the highway is Arkansas. As soon as you get past Blytheville, it's some of the worst roads and shortest entrance and exit ramps I've ever seen.

@@thereallksworld the good thing is, give it about an hour and you’re no longer in Arkansas. The roads are pretty bad throughout eastern Arkansas.

@@504RoadTrips If you stayed at a hotel during the drive, hopefully you didn't stay in between Sikeston and Blytheville. There's few hotels and the few there are are crap. I knew a family member who stayed at one near the New Madrid area.

@@thereallksworld we stayed at a very nice Holiday Inn Express in Festus, Missouri. The only hotels we ever stayed at in Arkansas were in Jonesboro, and they were both Hilton properties, so no problems there.

Interstate 55 From Laplace LA to Chicago IL

I have traveled this highway from its northern to southern extents. Most times from Memphis to St. Louis. The one thing I dont like about Memphis to New Orleans is the trees lining the highway, I dont hate trees, it just blocks my view. Something about wide open views when traveling that I just love. St. Louis to Chicago is a thing of beauty by train also, I almost go by train all the time these days.

That tends to happen, no matter how often we stop to clean the windshield. We have video of a drive west through Texas at the height of Lovebug season. It was pretty bad.

Did you go through Memphis and West Memphis during the I-40 bridge closure in 2021? There seemed to be a huge number of trucks going slow on the Tennessee side and the Arkansas side. I can tell it is before mid 2022 because there is no construction work at Crump Blvd.

Yes. This was early July of 2021. I-40 was shut down. If you look at the regular videos in the I-55 series, there was commentary about it.

Wasn’t US 63 rerouted off I-555/55 in 2019?

It seems that way. I must've been using an outdated map. It explains why the I-555 exit doesn't have US-63 on the BGS. Since it's now been a few years since we made that trip, and since I compiled the original source video, I don't remember where I got that info from.

@@504RoadTrips Yeah, Arkansas hadn't recognized 63 south of Turrell for years. Signage usually ended at 55. When 555 was signed, there were about 3 years of 555/63 co-signage, but now 63 stops at Southwest Dr in Jonesboro and follows US 49 to I-40. Very recent

I-55 is a pretty Nice Drive, but I-55 through the Chicago Metro looks like a Jungle until you get to I-90/94, and I don't Like it when the Freeway is like that, Especially if it's an Urban one.
