I don't know if anyone remembers this has happened just like this before about 15 to 20 years ago. On the over pass on I 95 in Connecticut. They practically built a temporary one over night. And took years to fix the permanent one

I remember when that accident happened at around exit 25 southbound in Bridgeport. They built a temporary bridge and brought it in from upstate New York.

This highway is a nightmare during rush hour. I can’t imagine how it is now…. Glad I live near Greenwich lol.

I operated a successful business in that area, owning a small fleet of trucks. I travelled under that overpass almost daily with big trucks. People in that area treat each other with such disrespect on the roads. Especially trucks trying to merge and navigate. I'm glad to have moved out of that area and don't see nearly the level of disrespect those folks have for one another where I went.

I was there today. The traffic on I95, known in Connecticut as the Connecticut Turnpike was impassable in both directions for miles before the accident site.

I only hope they prosecute the driver of the car that caused all this mess to the FULL extent of the law, no slap on the wrist bs.

All because of some one cutting off a semi truck which then had to avoid a collision with another semi causing the accident. That some one has caused millions in damages and got away with it...

Only 160000? The bridge before had 30000. That's not fair.

I was thinking the same.

Heavy traffic delays here in Baltimore bc of the bridge collapse. It’s so frustrating 🤷🏽♀️

At least I-95 is not elevated in this area otherwise it would take a much longer time to reopen the highway.

Maybe someone should do something about safety using front-end loader as a lift and no safety harness on the guy hanging off the wing wall I know what I'm talking about I helped build that bridge and the two next to it Safety first Yonkers Co.

America's over-reliance on cars, and mostly single occupancy cars at that, laid bare again whenever one of these mishaps occurs. Yet all we do is complain about the inconvenience and demand to rebuild right back to the same mess as before.

@@johnharper2016 They probably live in a country that has a developed mass transit system. America's mass transit system ranks among the lowest in the world, cars are not optional for most of us.
