Big fan of yours. Your epic fights with Groves paved the way for a new era of gigantic boxing events not seen in decades. Groves at the time was harsh and behaved immature but to his credit, all the trash-talking and mind games garnered huge attention all around the globe and helped to make it all possible. Fierce and extremely confident young Groves was a marketing machine, he played the part of a young villain and you were the grizzled veteran he sought to dethrone. The narrative was perfect so to speak and I've never been so excited for a boxing event as I was before the second one. It was truly spectacular to witness with that perfect Rocky ending like the icing on the cake, and I'm so happy you two get along now.

Yeah just re-watched the first fight and it was one of the worst stoppages I have ever seen. It hasn't aged well at all. I remember being a huge Froch fan at the time (still am) and thought it was a great win. Then I rewatched it and realised how bad the stoppage was. Just watched a podcast were Groves is giving a commentary about the fight and he clearly wasn't hurt at all. Tired and exhausted maybe but definitely not out on his feet

@@laurarules3642It was a terrible, terrible stoppage. Groves was 100% slowing down but he showed no signs he was completely out of it....Then for Howard "let me stop the fight" Foster to get Groves in a headlock when he stopped him 🤣🤣 just madness
@laurarules364210 ай бұрын
@@KOTalk lol George Groves on his commentary to fight used a good hypothetical situation as an example. He said he felt like a guy who had been training for a huge long distance marathon and he was miles in front of everybody else, could see the finish line on the horizon and was about to claim his victory and then some idiot jumps out of the crowd and rugby tackles him to the ground and he loses the race lol That idiot would be Howard Foster 🤣

I lumped on George that night. Watching how he got to you on the sky boxing show on a Friday, I sensed you were as good as done. George was the up and coming kid. As much as you hated him, it was nowhere near as much as I hated you and that stoppage that night! In the rematch I obviously had George again but that was a different Froch. A more fitter and determined one. Your legacy has been cemented. You vs Calzaghe (both in your prime) would have been the ultimate dream. Great channel and content Carl. And thanks for the memories and the money loss. 😂

Rachel, Carl, as a big fan of your channel, I have to say this might be the best video yet. That fight will forever go down as one of - if not - the greatest for me. I will never forget the look my brother gave me (new to boxing at the time) after I had spent hours telling him how you couldn’t be hurt, George is fast but largely all talk, and you would flatten him, only for that punch in round 1 to happen. What a fight. And to see you so humble and complimentary to George, and the fact that your now mates, forever cements this rivalry and story as nothing short of epic. What legends you both are. Looking forward to Froch Groves II 10 year vid!

I think it’s great to see that you have both become friends. There’s no point at all holding on to all that kind of negative energy towards each other when you both didn’t really even know each other on personal terms. Life is to short to hold grudges. For most men and typically high achieving men it is just pure ego that gets in the way . Once you can push that aside and get to know someone it helps you grow

It was the perfect rivalry where you truly could tell each tighter totally disliked the other and every comment was just getting drilled further into there mind where there's no way you can't not keep thinking I can't stick this guy. Entertaining episode again. Thanks. Groves really pushed your buttons Carl, it was fun to watch. I've watched all your PPV on Sky Carl and when Groves dropped you in round one that did make the match. He was down on his haunches and looked like a snake ready to strike even though you are the Cobra! His back was really up against the wall. Groves had nothing to lose. Control your emotions. Wasn't the famous fight Alan Minter who lost his cool and lost against Hagler. It was stopped a little early. Maybe another 2-3 seconds because he was ahead, but had foster let it go on we would not have had the 2nd fight. It is a rule in boxing that you always always always shake hands at the end.

what I want to know is how do you recover in the days after a fight? presumably after the adrenaline wears off the pain starts to kick in. do you have strong painkillers waiting back stage. do you get in an ice cold bath? to you lay flat and not move for a few days? do you always get a brain MRI after a fight to look for any bleeding? Who decides if you need a scan or go to the hospital? Do you have checks like 'neuro obs' in the 72h after a fight?
