Hey man! Incoming radiology resident + personal finance guy + huge car guy. Car advice is always tough because it depends on your financial situation and what you want out of your car. As a finance guy, I’d stay away from buying anything super expensive/luxurious until loans (if you have any) are paid off, but that said, you can actually find a great deal on a nearly-new car/SUV/truck if you go through car rental services. Most rental companies often have a division that sells 1-2 year old vehicles at a great price. They go through a rigorous inspection too- my wife and I bought a well-equipped, one-year-old Dodge Journey for a steal last year and it’s been fabulous! Obviously not a car guy’s dream, but it’s been great for a growing family. My opinion is to get a good budget car, save a little, then you can buy a way better car after a year or two of earning that big boi attending salary. ...or you could just get the Porsche anyway 😎 Congrats on the job!!

One of the best things my family has done is buy a certified pre-owned Lincoln car. I own an MKZ which is a nice sized car and I only had 13,000 miles on my car when we bought it after it only being a year old. The depreciation rates are insane on these cars, however they are GREAT vehicles. The original price on my car was $48,000 and we bought it for $26,000 with no damages present (or previous on carfax)! :) The reason why buying a certified pre-owned one is so good is because you get a 6 year/ 100,000 mile warranty on the car after you buy it. You also get 24/7 roadside assistance, which was very beneficial when I got a flat tire driving home from school at 1am. In addition, you sometimes get free oil changes as an added bonus. :)

You seem very humble to me and that is refreshing to see in a Doc! Our PCP is the same way and we’ve been w her since 1997! Cars: don’t fall into the “I want a BMW or Porsche because everyone else has one!” Mindset! I am a Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC dealer and we make fantastic vehicles in every verity so wether you want a car and SUV/Crossover or a truck we have them all! We are in the DelMarVa area and while it is the absolute worst time to have to go shopping for a car due to the worst inventory levels in my 21 years in the business, there are some vehicles out there and it’s getting a little better by the week. We have had five customers come down from NYC in the last few months, one coming from Niagara! So if you decide you’d like to check out a Chevrolet, Buick, or GMC don’t hesitate to contact me as I’d be happy to help anyway I can. Best of luck w the new position and we really enjoy the channel!
