I just finished the 3rd episode of the Gyro trilogy! You young man are amazing. I'm a retired USAF pilot and your tenacity, mechanical skills, and determination are unparrelled in guys your age. Is the gyrocopter in flyable shape, and are there any gyrocopter cfi's in Maine who could give you transition training and then fly it home. Perhaps in the transition flying you can make it part way home during training decreasing costs further. It probably burns 3-5 gph hour at 75-100 kts as the crow flys. 20 hours driving may be only 10-15 hours flying.

My husband and I fly gyroplanes. That's an RAF2000 and in its current state it is NOT flight worthy. The stock RAF2000 is extremely unstable. You'll need to do the sparrowhawk mods on it to make it safe. It needs, at the very least, an effective H-stab added. The stock RAF2000 killed a lot of people. Don't fly it as is.
