What up, y'all? So this was not a planned video... however, I wanted to make sure to warn anyone who might be doing something in their routine that could compromise the health of their hair. I accidentally gave my hair moisture overload for the 3rd time smh! 😓 In this video, I share what happened this time as well as pics from this incident and 2021... God bless!

So i went to a trichologist a few weeks ago who told me that porosity basically doesn't mean anything unless your hair is chemical, colour or heat treated. She said that hair under 2 inches from the scalp tends to be low porosity because the hair is newer and the rest of the hair shaft is likely high porosity due to general wear and tear, pollution, friction etc. Turns out my hair needed and LOVES protein and i thought i was a low porosity, protein sensitive girly for 10 years!!! My hair is starting to grow back and retain length. She said its also about getting your sebum levels back in balance which is about general health. I love love love your channel and I'm not giving this as a recommendation because i know you have health things going on and I'm not a doctor but i just thought I'd share as i found it really interesting and useful ❤❤❤

You have such a lovely spirit! You mentioned perimenopause. I know first hand that can cause a dramatic change in our hair. I'm in my late 40s and I've been experiencing it for a few years now. So much thinning, it's ridiculous! I'm honestly at the point where I just want to cut it all off and just keep my hair a couple inches long. I'm sick of dealing with the lack of density. Not that low density hair can't be beautiful, but it's a big change if you're used to having high density hair. I'm also tired of sweating like a freaking lumberjack, but that's a story for another day. The stuff we ladies have to deal with.

Heyyyyy 4c! Just so you know, it's natural for a woman's hair to thin at certain stages (including health stages) and ages in our lives. It'll thin then thicken and fluctuate between the two. Our hair is not going to be the same always. Just relax breathe and hydrate sis, you are beautiful. Thank you for the pumpkin seed tip ❤ regular clear color organic castor oil has been working for me too ....oh and please, keep smiling. God is on the throne

When I experienced moisture overload from leaving conditioner in overnight, I used Dr. Bronners Castile lavender soap and only used rinse out conditioners or balancing deep treatments. Most of the time I washed once with the Castile soap and followed up with a regular non drying shampoo. And during that time I used hair milks since they aren't thick. Clarifying the hair should be part of the haircare routine to remove all products from our hair, how often depends on the amount of product used and how many. Growing up using regular shampoos, rinse out conditioners only, and hairdresser or grease left our hair healthy. Back then my mom used Suave for the family. To note: we weren't heavy handed using products back then either like I'm seeing on KZbin. I've always had a lot of long 4a/4b hair low porosity hair and used an egg size or 2 of conditioner. Also we didn't put conditioner on our scalps, just on the hair shaft. As you're massaging it in some will move further up the hair anyway. We didn't have these issues that I see occurring with people on KZbin. I've noticed overtime some people on KZbin have gone back to some old school practices, including hair grease, now their hair is thriving again. We have to be careful with some of the practices that we see on KZbin, and reevaluate how to take care of our hair. If you're gonna layer with a lot of products the hair needs to be clarified. Just use sulfate free clarifying shampoos. Also, because of allergies, you could look into fragrance free products, or maybe even using ayurvedic practices. There are quite a few people on KZbin thriving with ayurvedic practices. And when trying anything new, do patch testing. I've attached a link that have an article about protein and moisture overload. I hope it helps you. Peace and blessings❤ us.davines.com/blogs/news/protein-overload-or-moisture-overload

Awesome! For awhile there, I would gently press my hair on a low temp )flat iron and or do a blow out with some blue magic in prep for my updos WITHOUT issue! No heat damage! It saved me time and prevented mechanical damage and tangles along the way! It was magical lol! In many cases, my hair actually prefers some of those old methods that would have many up in arms today 😂😂😂. I personally say do what works for you and just pay attention to how your hair responds.

Hang in there..yes "it will be alright" I had hair loss in the middle & side of my head in January 2023. Finally it's growing back. So I understand your frustration with thinness. Always keep in mind or focus on what you have over come to help you get through. I'm thinking an allergy test may also help you identify what's going on. My hair issue was a number of reasons (diet not enough protein, inflammation, stress, wearing extensions on my fine hair etc) not just one. You may want to take a DHT blocker supplement . I was taking vital nutrient saw palmetto with pygeum & nettle root among other supplements. It's on Amazon. Moisture over load..sounds like you got that figured out with focusing on including protein in your regimen. Stay blessed & consistent you'll get through this. I'm finally seeing results & slowly cutting off thin ends.

Not sure if iron deficiency is your issue or not, just commiserating with you. Skinny hair is a thing! No fall out or breakage. Just thin "skinny" hair. If I'm not dedicated to iron regimen, my coils go all Olive Oyl on me. Best of luck with your tresses sis!

I have Menorrhagia and a submucosal fibroid and have struggled with iron deficiency anemia and low ferritin since 2016 😔. I've talked about it in my previous videos throughout the years, and although my diet is rich with iron foods and I take a high dose pill for iron daily, my ferritin never has been above 32 I believe 😔. It's beyond frustrating. Back in 2017 or something when I went to a Hematologist, she was like the low ferritin didn't cause hair loss smh. I basically got dismissed smh.

Hi Kriss....I just ordered so 5% Minoxidil for women, and used my first application. That same evening, I got a headache and panicked because I wasn't sure if it was a diabetic headache or from the Minoxidil. I read the entire instuctions and applied as stated, just at my thin spots in the front. Instructions say to use once a day for at least 3 months before seeing results. *** Sigh *** Praying I stick with this, but going on a cruise in May and will probably just wear a wig or hairpiece. I hate my hair and will throw on a hat or cap when I am going out to run errand or just to the store. Anyway, I ♥ how thick your hair is.

Ive had locs for 4 years now (microlocs) and even with color, my hair is thriving. But when i was a loose natural, i did once give myself moisture overload so bad that my hair felt like mush. Clarifying and some protein fixed that. I started using greek yougurt for my protein,(you can look at the back, some have more protein than others) letting it sit without getting it on my scalp, and it restored my hair at that time. Non sweetened no flavor plain greek yougurt.

The lightest mildest protein I know of is Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer. Try using that every other day to see what happens and then if it works switch to twice a week due to the low porosity issue. I have high porosity and I use it every day with no problems but don't do what I do if your hair is low porosity. Good luck. I have some hairloss...right along with you at age 42 in the perimenopause. I use a caffeine water-based mist as my DHT blocker. Oil makes my scalp itch so no oil for me.

@marleyhill34
@marleyhill34 2 ай бұрын
@@ModelingTabi I'm not sure if the Aphoghee Keratin & green tea Restructurizer will help moisture overload. Try using it three times a week. Apply the protein spray before the moisturiser. Probably avoid moisturising your hair so often if you have moisture overload and start using a diffuser or a hooded drier to make sure your low porosity hair is dry every day. Definitely do not have damp hair all day or all night.

When my hair feels like it needs protein, I use coconut oil and aloe vera juice/gel as a pre-poo. I apply it to dry hair, cover my head in plastic and let it sit for at least an hour before proceeding with my normal wash routine. ETA: oops! I meant I apply it to dampened hair (spritzed with plain water) but not washed or cleaned in any way. However, i use a larger percentage of aloe than oil, so it is enough to wet the hair anyway, it will just take a little longer to soak in.

Sorry to hear about your allergies. When I was younger we used to use eggs as a natural protein treatment. We'd take a couple eggs, beat them and use it as a hair mask. I know you have allergies, as do I. I have recently started using more ayurvedic treatments. I noticed a big difference ( for the best) using ayurvedic masks like henna in my hair. I have bad ezcema and allergies ( skin, food, and sinus, pets, trees, plants; you name it) and I have not had any really noticeable reactions. I will admit the masks and/or gloss bars are extremely messy and takes several hours. I have what I believe is low prorosity, fine hair strands. It takes a while to throughly rinse out the masks. My scalp is itchy if I don't throughly rinse out all of the masks. Honestly, I find the ones I make myself are the hardest to rinse out. I do believe straining the masks and making sure there are not large particles will help. I have been to lazy to do that. I recently started using the gloss bars from Now I am Nappy and my hair loves them and they rinse out way easier. I am sure her masks are more finely sifted than the masks I make using ayurvedic powders I buy from Amazon. Anyway, I say all this to say ayurvedic is more natural and has protein the hair needs in a lot of them like henna, cassia, etc. I would even say watch Now I am Nappy 's KZbin channel. She has recently been doing live answer and questions on Sunday for a hair challenge that is about to end. She also talks about pumpkin seed oil and other DHT blockers to help with hair loss. She has allergies and is very knowledgeable about ayurvedic. She can point you in the right direction. I will say try only one or two ayurvedic herbs at a time, to determine if you have an allergic reaction. Good luck, I too have been on a journey to grow back my thinning hair. Its mainly self inflicted. I have done a poor job of caring for my hair and constantly wearing tight braided styles.

I used to love msm! It was one of my favorite supplements that I shared here on YT. I took it for a long time (for joints) and stopped at one point to see if it was causing hair issues... because apparently, data didn't study the use of it past 3 months or something, and some people experience shedding, etc. The last time I tried using it ( a couple years ago), it was causing me heart palpitations, so I stopped using the separate supplement. (It's still in my multivitamin, though.) Someone mentioned here that she adds msm powder to water and uses it topically on her hair with great results. So I'd like to look into that..
