There’s a reason I stay away from mystery boxes of any kind. With official Pokémon products you’re gambling to see if you get the rare card you want since hits are not guaranteed every pack. The odds may go down if an outside company takes those packs and place them in their “mystery packs”. The real mystery is 1) what condition are the cards/ packs in? And 2) Did they weigh the packs and place the light ones in their mystery packs? Thanks for the sacrifice of opening these mystery packs/ boxes Rev! You should say the line that Nostalgia Critic uses: “I’m the Mystery Box Opener! I rip into it so you don’t have to!” Lol

I would say for the future recommendation, never buy 3rd party "mystery" card products of any kind ever. Any time I asked my family for pokemon cards for something like my bday or xmas they always got me these 3rd party products and they were always A disappointment.

I would love a series where you actually investigate and confront the scammers. I truly believe you could make a change and scammers would fear you. Every video would take a lot of work but would probably go viral naming it something like "confronting a pokemon card scammer". You would need to explain how much these cards can be worth though for people that dont know anything about the cards. Yikes... something to always keep in mind with these types of things. They are trying to make money. If they legitimately have one of those chase cards, they have to sells tons of others that are complete duds to still make a profit. Mystery packs/boxes may be interesting or exciting, but they really are a complete gamble. Treat it as such.

Uh oh! Fraud alert 🚨 this reveals the glaring flaw with modern cards’ “holo rare” cards. They’re trash and have been getting worse since XY era

Really the issue is that V cards and such have pretty much taken the value of what holos used to be. Having too many card rarities was just another nail in the coffin for them. Atop of that, holo cards don't look anywhere near as nice as they used to.

It’ll never be the same with holos but that doesn’t mean collecting within the TCG has to be bad. They have a clean slate opportunity next generation with Scarlet and Violet. I sure hope they don’t roll out some more Rainbows 🌈 they’re pretty tired at this point.
