The Velotric Summit 1 is a budget friendly electric mountain bike that I took on The Flume Trail in Lake Tahoe to see what the ride would be like. There was a lot more snow than I expected, and the steep cliffs were a bit more scary that I remember from the last time I was there. The Flume Trail in Lake Tahoe is one on my personal favorite rides, it has four distinct segments including a 1000 foot elevation gain to kick the ride off which tops out around 8000 feet of altitude which makes breathing a challenge. The second segment is the marlotte lake section where it is usually pretty flat smooth dirt riding, but it was covered in snow on today's trip in late May. The third segment is the rocky cliffs single track section which offers stunning views of Lake Tahoe and a kiss of danger riding along the edge in some sections. The final segment is a 1000 decent back down to Lake Tahoe, which is enough to challenge any set of brake pads.

For two years I lived in South Lake Tahoe, supporting myself as a snow ski instructor, then water skiing in the summer. You have outdone yourself Matt. That's beautiful country up there in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I played this video in 4K on my 50" computer monitor. Absolutely stunning video work. A pleasure watching with the added bonus of seeing my old stomping grounds. Finger wag: You need to be properly equipped when going on those trails. E.g., knowing what to do if you suffer a snake bite. (That's rattlesnake country.) Then there's the bears and mountain lions. And those pesky falling trees.

Wow, the whole scene with that tree coming down, sheesh! Query: I wonder whose decision it was to put that one worker down the road to stop anyone who might be passing by on the trail. Seeing how it saved some random dude on an electric bike from getting injured, a tip o' the hat to whoever told that forest worker "go stand down there in case you need to stop Timmy Tourist from flatlands."

I love Lake Tahoe I have the same bike in Orange I ended up swapping out the forks to some nice Bomber Z2 air forks now I love the bike! The stock forks aren’t bad but I send it on some pretty good jumps and just wanted something a little more higher quality

I think the Philodo H8 you tested a few months ago would be perfect for that , just throw on a suspension seatpost, and use the gears and PAS unless you need the AWD

Looks like a great bike! I checked out Rad and Aventon eMTBs and they are not as good. This one has weight capacity over 400 lbs. I like the fact that it doesn't come with a rear rack since I prefer Ibera quick release trunk bags. The tires are a little too wide to fit on the bus rack, but maybe I could mod that. Handle bars too low, needs a suspension seat post plus a spare battery. So, looking at another few hundred dollars in accessories and mods.

I seriously considered it instead of this bike, ultimately the summit one is really all the power you need for this trail and it is a lot lighter and more nimble for this kind of riding. Velotric just raised all their prices on all models. So not as interested as I was. This one went up $300 to $1999.

Although velotric seems like a good trustworthy company, but the prices of their e-bikes just made their e-bikes not appealing. You can just get e-cell five star for the same amount of money but a lot more power and range.

If there's a E-bike you want that hasn't yet gone up 300$ ish then now is the time to get it. Before mid June EVERY popular e-bike will go up by around that much in cost due to tariff exceptions expiring without being re-istablished....sucks. I am pretty sure June 14th is when the change takes effect but different companies might have stock already inside the USA before then and will be able to take longer to raise prices then others
