Enter the dragon! My giant cloud rainforest vivarium, Pantdora, is home to an incredible ecosystem, ever changing especially in light of the scorching summer temperatures, but the apex predator of the lands, a male sun skink, has been patiently waiting for his queen to mate with, in order to create the next generation of sun skinks in the rainforest. But the pairing didn't exactly go as planned, and the events that ensued was an epic story full of twists and turns. Hope you enjoy Episode 4, Season 2 of my Ecosystem Vivarium Series. Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

I do think we are starting to see some ways that Pantdora could use some new creatures being introduced. I think we need something to counteract the mealybugs, like some lacewings or ladybugs, because right now they are being raised by the ants unchallenged and could completely kill those plants with the kind of numbers they have. And some herbivores that actually eat plant material, because those cause different defenses in the plants than sucking insects and that's an important balance to achieve. Also, I don't think you have anything fungivorous, which isn't too much of a problem now, but fungi could take over in an environment like Pantdora without it. And the springtails seem especially numerous right now, probably way too many, so something that hunts them would be good too. I would also love to see some kind of parasite, just for some realism. My biggest concern is if a plant starts to flower- would you introduce a pollinator at that point? Right now there is no creature that could pollinate a flower if one did appear. Anyway, I really love what you are doing with this project, and I think the best part is how efficient the detritivores are- Pantdora has that part down pat and I love it. I just think there are a few ways it could use some more balance to emulate a real ecosystem if that's your goal.
@sc8307
@sc8307 Ай бұрын
What kind of parasite, specifically? The marauder ants have mites right now. I wouldn't want to see too many parasites. The ants could possibly pollinate, if they made their way to the flowers. When I grow tomatoes, I usually have ants on the flowers.

I am almost certain that the “gnome ants” are electric ants, as they match the size and coloration. I used to have a colony in my backyard, and they seemed pretty chill, content with staying close to their nest area. This could have been because of a much larger Argentine ant colony that lived close by, possibly oppressing them, as I did see them fight at times.

@@anabanananaa gold represents abundance and serves as a measure of success and status. Dragons embody these qualities as majestic beings and are often seen as embodiments of power and strength. The presence of gold in their possession amplifies their mythical prowess, elevating their status in the realm of folklore. Plus they’re lizards so they’re cold blooded. Gold is a very soft metal, and holds heat fairly well. So that could also be a thing.

found this on his page AntsCanada 5 days ago Dear AC Family, in light of the millions of you that really count on watching these weekly episodes of Pantdora, it is with sincere sadness, that I announce that there will be no episode uploading this week. I'm so sorry, but here's why... This past week was the hottest week the vivarium has ever experienced and most of Pantdora's creatures have gone underground to remain dormant. It is crazy to see so little activity in the rainforest right now, and I plan on scheduling a 'cooling event' sometime next week if things don't naturally cool down where I live. But I suspect this unfriendly hot period is somehow essential to the health of the ecosystem and that of its creatures/plants/fungi... I mean, Nature must have a reason for it, right? How? I'm not exactly sure yet, but perhaps we'll understand the greater picture of things when the weather cools off a bit more come rainy season starting next month. Either way, I'm still documenting everything on video and will be back with another nature-filled episode next weekend as usual, because I believe the world needs to see and understand just how incredible and complex the biological systems truly are on our planet, to truly appreciate living on this giant ecosystem vivarium we call Earth. Thank you all for being part of Pantdora's journey. Meanwhile, please feel free to catch up on the most recent episodes on my channel's home page. In the latest episode, we introduce a new sun skink (pictured below) to the ecosystem to join our male sun skink Smaug. Thanks for the support, AC Family. Ant love forever! PS - What are some questions you may have about Pantdora? I will try my best to answer them either in the comments or in the next episode uploading next week.

The animals in pantdora are severely inbred with each other. The genetic diversity is also low which can cause the animals to develop serious disorders or die quickly. To get around this he would have to constantly add more of the species so that he increases the genetic diversity in pantdora which could then result in the animals living longer and being immune to diseases.
