The name Falling Petals sounds like the song would be calmer to capture the mood of beautifully changing seasons but instead it sounds like the petals are falling because the flora they belong to has been trampled and destroyed in a great conflict, destruction where there once was beauty. I love song names sometimes they can be so good

The composers they have for the modern FE games do a beautiful job of merging contemporary elements with classical elements. They play around so much with the motifs of so many genres and cultures.

All of the tracks with "Trial" are all remixes of various tracks from the game the specific "Emblem" (Fire Emblem protagonist from the past). Trial of Emblem is Marth with the song referencing Trouble, Together We Ride, and a bunch of other tracks.

Bright, Bold Sandstorm and other battle themes have two versions of them: One quieter one while you look at the overhead view to get a lay of the land, a much more intense one with the subtext "Fiery" when you're watching the actual combat. It's the same track, just hyped up and more intense. It almost feels like the Fiery version is the normal track, while the non-Fiery one is you partially drowning out the sounds of battle to concentrate and strategize
@sasaki0aran5 күн бұрын
Glad you like them, fun fact a lot of the themes have both a Calm and Fiery version which switches out between the map and combat, if you ever have the time do listen to Bright Sandstorm in Fiery version, an absolute beat!

The OST is extremely "unique". It depends on how sharp your ears are.

The ost is a mixed bag imo. Though I think that what lead people to calling it mid was that it doesn't really feel like a Fire Emblem ost and feels more like an anime.

As an older FE fan I love the Trial themes. When they hit right like Trial of Emblems did for the first game's tracks, it really just brings me back to memories of playing through the older games and all the fun I've had going through them. Also helps that the maps these play in are specifically remakes of significant levels from those older titles

I feel sad that you didn't get to hear "Royal Confidence (Might)" one of my favorites in all of Engage. Also, you should definitely listen to more songs from both Engage and Three Houses, you have missed so many amazing songs that I would like you to hear. Also, another series that really deserves more reactions is Xenoblade, I honestly don't think there is a single not great song in these games, amazing soundtrack. Would love to see you react to more of those

Bright Bold Sandstorm my beloved! Also, all of these minus Emblem Engage are map themes and each one has a "Battle" variation that's more intense with faster pacing and dynamic instrumentation. You actually listened to the battle version of Bloom in the Breeze which is "Blossom". Bright Bold Sandstorm has "Fiery" and Tear Streaked has "Ice". It's also worth mentioning that there are different versions of Bloom and Sandstorm that play early in the game and later in the game. - Bloom in the Breeze -> Full Bloom in the Breeze - Bright Sandstorm -> Bright Bold Sandstorm Each with intense battle versions.

An interesting note about Fire Emblem Engage is that it’s an anniversary game, which means that while it has its own original story, characters, levels, and songs, there are tons of references to all the other games in the series, which of course means amazing remixes of past songs. The songs you listened to were fully original, but there are soooo many other great songs because of this! (There are also a good amount of original songs you didn’t get to in this video, but that’s expected.) Unfortunately you’d miss out on a bit of context listening to these remixes but they’re still great to listen to as standalone songs. If you’d ever want to go back to this game there’s a lot to go back to, and it doesn’t disappoint! Edit: I didn’t finish the video before posting this but Trial of Emblems is one of these remixes, referencing the very first Fire Emblem game.

Excluding the first and last songs in this video, the order you listened to them in indicates the tonal flow of the game's story. Bloom in the Breeze is an early game song before the steaks go up in the story. Tear Streaked plays during a pivotal moment right before crap gets real at the end of the first act. Bright, Bold Sandstorm places shortly after during part of the story when our heroes are gaining their second wind. Falling Petals, similar to Tear Streaked, plays during a pivotal moment at the end of the second act. And for reference, if you see a song beginning with "Trials of..." in this game, that song is a medley of another FE game. You see, FE Engage is an anniversary celebration and contains characters and themes from all previous FE games and has side quest levels you can play which is where these "Trials of..." songs play.

"This sounds like victory. This sounds like a fight youve already won" Trust me when I say that this is FAR beyond the truth. The map Trial of Emblems plays one on the hardest difficulty is very, very long, with defeat around the corner. Though the music gives you enough confidence to push through
@johanstenfelt12064 күн бұрын
Hm, if I am remembering correctly, there were some reservations for this Title in particular, i wonder if that extends to the Music? Regardless, personally I think this is a very well Soundtrack. Speaking of Soundtracks, how about doing Trails’ Soundtrack at some point, or Metaphor’s, would be interesting.

So Fire Emblem is a turn based strategy game where you move your units around maps and complete objectives. A big thing is every unit is a unique character with classes, skills, and strengths/weaknesses, as well as their own personality and support (akin to bond or friendship) dialogue. While there is a casual mode where units don't die when defeated, the series started off with permadeath for most of the entries. Engage is an series celebration title, with there being returning characters in the form of Emblems that reside in rings, who grant characters special powers when equipped, and they Engage with the character (hence the games title) to basically temporarily fuse with the Emblem. Emblem Engage is the games opening theme, though the version here is the instrumental version played in some cutscenes and not the vocal version that is the actual opening. Some tracks here like Bright, Bold Sandstorm are map themes, that have a battle version that plays during battles, usually following the scheme of Song Title (version), which also was true in Awakening, Fates, and Three Houses. I particularly like Bright, Bold Sandstorm (Fiery) and most of the Trial of X themes, like Trial of Awakening (Ablaze), Trial of Radiance (Fight On), Trial of the Academy (Teach Us), and Trial of Fate (Bare Your Fangs).

Yes, Engage is super vibrant with its designs! They actually got Mika Pikazo to direct and make a lot of the art, as a new artist to the series it's a really fresh look! The gameplay looks very nice as well, a big step up from the low res of 3DS games and the gritty dynasty warriors look of Three Houses. Huge step up in combat animation quality too, fast and flashy making it never get boring

Regarding Falling Petals. Think of it this way; When you start a typical JRPG or video game in general, you always expect the first levels to be very grassy, fun, bright, welcoming, that sort of thing, right? Well okay, now picture you return there midway through the game, but now everything's on fire, there are awful twists all over the place and everyone is dead. That's Falling Petals.
