walaska , this song is featured earlier in a movie named "Aye Dil hai muskil" where the actor converse with his beloved , but here he has dedicated this to his parents and make a soulful divine connection from all his melted heart while remembering their memories. here he is using these phrases to express his attachment. Channa Mereya song Lyrics Meaning In English Translation achchha chalta hoon duaaon mein yaad rakhna mere zikr ka zubaan pe swaad rakhna okay, I’ll leave now. remember me in your prayers, keep the taste of my mention on your tongue… dil ke sandookon mein mere achchhe kaam rakhna chiTThi taaron mein bhi mera tu salaam rakhna keep my good deeds in the boxes of the heart, and keep my greetings even in letters and telegrams. andhera tera maine le liya mera ujla sitaara tere naam kiya channa mereya mereya channa merya mereeya channa mereya mereya beliya o piya.. I have taken your darkness, and my bright shining star is yours now. O my moon, O my, my moon, O my boleved moon.. O beloved. mehfil mein teri hum na rahein jo gham to nahi hai gham to nahi hai kisse hamaare, nazdeekiyon ke kam to nahi hain kam to nahi hain. kitni dafa subah ko meri tere aangan mein baithe maine shaam kiya if I am not there in your gathering, there is no sadness, there is no sadness.. stories of ours, of our closenesses, aren’t less, they are plenty. so many times I have turned my mornings into evenings sitting in your courtyard. [that is I have so many times passed my time there.] channa mereya mereya channa mereya mereya channa mereya mereya beliya o piyaa.. tere rukh se apna raasta moR ke chala.. chandan hoon main apni khushboo chhoR ke chala.. mann ki maaya rakh ke tere takiye tale bairagi bairaagi ka sooti chola oRh ke chala I am turning my path from your direction, I am sandal, leaving my fragrance (with you)… leaving my heart’s desires under your pillow, this ascetic wraps the cotton cloth of an ascetic and leaves..

Their is a story how a first verse in Sanskrit, ancient Indian language was created, in which, sage Valmiki was going to river ganges for daily ablutions, when he came across the stream of water, impressed by the clarity of the water just like the mind of good man, he decided to bathe there. As he was looking to step into the stream, he saw a crane couple mating. Valmiki was very pleased to see the happy birds. Suddenly an arrow shot the male crane dead, filled with sorrow its mate screamed in agony and also died of shock. Valmiki's heart melted at this pitiful sight. He saw the hunter with bows and arrows and angrily said "You will find no rest for the long years of Eternity For you killed a bird in love and unsuspecting " So the form of poem has evolved out of pain in the heart.

Hindi language is more about feeling and passion it carries in its words. Its because of the North Indian culture. Arijith is from West Bengal state. Indian movie songs are mostly based on raagas which gives you the moods, there are thousands of raagas for each occasion and emotions. The Indian music is very old, more than 4000 years old because of the civilization started here very earlier compared to western countries. The South Indian music is even older and rich in terms of culture and technicality.
@krishna-de2jb3 жыл бұрын
This is nothing like north Indian or south Indian culture. Every state has its different cultures. The change is only due to the languages. South India also uses all the techniques used in north India but in a different way. Therefore Always use the word India and not north or south. It feels like it creates a divide in the country.

You’re right that language certainly plays a major part here. For example, just the way of greeting someone or saying the same greeting to someone would vary vastly. For example, he uses the word Salaam in the song. This could have been so many different words itself but the beauty and fitment of “salaam” instead of any other substitute word is just too apt. With 2000++ languages/dialects, india certainly has that beauty inherent to it as we mix words and languages many a times.

There are several languages in India , their origins are from a few select languages like sanskrit, farsi, urdu, etc, many of these are influences that happened over a period of time due to the several rulers, colonizers who came into india. All the above languages i spoke about are phonetically very versatile and have single complex words to describe elaborate feelings and hence are the perfect languages for expressive poetry. Be it indian classical music having its influences in spiritual and devotional poetry written by valmiki , kabir das etc to the romance and agony brought in through farsi and urdu poets like mirza ghalib, khusro , etc . Indian music industry as a whole has been blessed with the most beautiful works of poetry followed by skillful and emotion grabbing compositions . The singers are merely a medium to put forth the feelings that the writer has written hundreds of years ago.putting it in careless words would be like saying Its the OG version of remixing🤣. The deeper you dive in the poetry aspect of indian music industry the more you will be lost in its versatility and magical entrapment. ( trust me im an indian and an avid listener of indian music but had to learn URDU language to actually grasp the depth of various poems which later became songs)

The original song in the movie is sung on screen by Ranbir Kapoor to his best friend who is getting married to someone else. He is in love with her and he starts singing saying that he will leave now and how she should remember him... She realises that he is in love with her while he is singing... The picturization of the song is heart breaking (there's a long dialogue in the middle that's cut in the youtube song version so it looks like she is taking him.by his hand and then he leaves..So lot of people think she drives him out of her wedding...But in the movie she takes him to a room and they talk after which he leaves) Here he has sung this for a benefit fund raiser concert of his own from his home...But he had also lost his mother a few weeks before to covid so he is at his vulnerable most...Aptly noticed by waleska....

I am so glad that I attended the arijit Singh concert in 2016 without knowing much about him in Delhi university fest. I left the concert in the middle because I am not interested in music that time. I wish I had that time back.
