Really awesome video, thank you. Usually aim trainer reviews on YT consist solely out of hyperboles, either deeming them worthless or claiming the reviewer became an aiming god in 1 week. But you highlighted all of the nuances and really helped me see the benefits whilst ensuring I will not grind all my time on them either!

Here are some things I think you should realize. Yes you can build bad habits in aim trainers, but most of the time if you're practicing with proper technique there's nothing in an aim trainer that will make you worse at aiming. The reason your aim felt like shit when you returned is that your brain adapted to aiming in Kovaak's which isn't a bad thing whatsoever. You just need to warm up in apex or whatever game you play for about 10-15 minutes and you'll perform the same or most of the time better. Another thing is aiming at bigger targets especially when doing target switch scenarios is very beneficial for working on speeding up your technique. However doing them all the time isn't a bad thing either it just wont help you improve as much bc there isn't much to learn from it. Also muscle memory when aiming doesnt exist..its a myth. If it were true whenever you switch sensitivities it would feel like your first time picking up a mouse. An example of muscle memory is using a specific keybind. For example if you have crouch set to C then one day change it to ctrl for a couple days youll struggle bc youll automatically press C when trying to crouch. Its not bc you dont have the finger dexterity in order to press ctrl. Your brain just automatically associates coruching with pressing C. Aiming is about mouse control. Aiming requires using your fingers, wrist, forearm, shoulder etc. If you want to improve using your wrist/fingers you should train with a higher sens than youre comfy with if you struggle with raw speed or if you struggle using a part of your mousepad that you arent comfy with or using your forearm/shoulder you should train with a low sens. Keyword "train"...dont use a lower or higher sens when playing only when training.

Really good video Nate. One thing i think you got wrong is that aim training shouldn't really be your "warm up." That would be like going to the gym to warm up for a basketball game. Aim training should be your time to isolate your weaknesses and improve them. I see far too many ppl who have a singular "warm up playlist" that they use for 30 min everyday before they play and that really won't help much in the long run. I'd recommend anyone who aim trains to use either the Voltaic or Revosect benchmarks. They break down all the different categories of aim and let you see where your weaknesses are and help you improve them. I think the reason so many ppl are convinced "aim trainers don't work" is because it's not as simple as *using an aim trainer* if you don't know *how to use it effectively.*
@josh3638

so... basketball then gym??? The point makes 0 sense, do them in whatever order.
@notPenney
@notPenney 10 ай бұрын
@@josh3638 No. My point was you shouldn't use aim training as a "quick warm up" the same way you wouldn't go to the gym to quickly warm up for a basketball game. You go to the gym with the intent to train your body and improve individual aspects of yourself. You can go to the gym (aim train) *before or after* a basketball game (video game) it doesn't really matter. But going to the gym, lifting weights for 15-30min, and thinking it'll make you better at basketball is dumb. My point is intent. Isolating individual weaknesses and dedicating specific time to improve those weaknesses. Not just using the same generic warmup playlist everyday for 30min cause you think it'll magically make you better. Whether you do that before or after playing games is irrelevant.

@@notPenneyI just started back up and only do about 20 min, but I do scenarios that target my areas I’m lacking in. I believe in quality over quantity for example on weight training I’d rather get 1-2 good working sets instead of doing 4 sets that are just meh. Now some people can do those 4 sets but I found that doing less can lead to more :)

Depends on what you're looking to get out of it. Doing 5 minutes of kovaaks gets my hands warmed up way better than 5 minutes in the range/dm function of most games. If I'm just looking to prevent not playing great for the first few rounds aim trainers are definitely the most time efficient method for me.

in my opinion, I found it a lot more beneficial to warmup with the game ur playing's respawn mode then playing ur game but when u get off u play kovaaks as a cooldown after gaming, i feel like this way u dont get fatigued from looong warmups and u dont get hindered as bad when u go from kovaaks to ur game , but its all preference

Awesome vid nate! I started noticing that I grip my mouse super hard as well. But there is no need to. I watched a specialist talk about it, and you should treat your mouse more like an egg. Because mice are so light now. They don't require so much force. Helped me tremendously! Great advice! 😊

my problem is with those aimtrainers, there are so many exercises that i don't know where to start on where the areas I'm bad at with aiming. in my experience, they take a lot of perseverance, will, and time to figure them out to be able to use them effectively but certainly not pointless.

This won't help with player count, explaining why this is not a thing, but it would be so much better if the actual games themselves included really solid bot scenarios to exclusively practice particular skills. It's horrible just sitting in lobbies while waiting to do a hot drop in BRs - although you could argue this forces you to take breaks and work in bursts.

this is the reason i stopped playing the BR of apex legends, just the tdm and control. Yeah it's a bit repetitive, but i get to enjoy actually shooting the gun instead of dying over and over with random teammates. Or i can practice guns (if they are available) that i wouldnt normally use.

The one he is using is being sold as a sports/sun protection sleeve on amazon (i got the same one). "Gaming sleeves" exist aswell but they're more expensive and for glass pads any sleeve works. On cloth pads the gaming ones may have advantages because the weave oriantation.

@@Michael-mn4ef you mean auto aim? i deal with that alot on red dead once defensive mode is turned off because you attack the wrong griefer trying to blow you up in free roam. usually when it comes to that you can just counter auto aim by going far away from a distance and thats with controller and a sniper. i imagine on apex if you use a mouse and you go at a distance with a sniper they stand no chance because they need to be closer. maybe its different in apex i dont know but i know its how i counter auto aim in red dead. i notice people who rely too much on that always need to be at close to medium range they struggle at far away combat and need to run closer.

This is what all the controller noobs on Twitter DON'T see or understand when they copypasta the whole "look how easy these elite mnk players are cuz they're using their WhOLe ARm to aim". So much time goes into training to be able to aim like this, and raw skill plays a role too no doubt. With controller aim assist why hop on and warm up like this? This video showcases why you can't compare the two input types. 98% of rollers aren't spending an hour aim training every day, because they literally don't have to in order to compete at the same level. can't wait until there is a better balance in the gaming world where both can exist and not have one outplaying the other like it is now.
@Rain1
@Rain1 10 ай бұрын
whats funny is, if you do choose to do some aim training while on controller, it'll solely be for flick shots (wingman in apex) or long range recoil control (flatline). You really dont have to warm up for tracking like you would on MNK. Like, you could make yourself even better on controller by simply practicing those weak points of controller.
