Born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1944, Bobby grew up in a family of six in a two-room shotgun house. His childhood was marked by poverty and a deep love for gospel music, which he learned from his mother, a church choir singer. Bobby’s early adulthood was fraught with challenges. After enlisting in the Army at 18, he returned home with a drinking problem that quickly spiraled out of control. By his mid-20s, he had been married and divorced three times, each failed relationship adding to his growing sense of despair. Struggling with homelessness, Bobby often sang on the streets, his voice earning him scraps of food or spare change. In 1971, fate intervened when Jenkins was discovered singing Sam Cooke’s A Change Is Gonna Come outside a bus station in Chicago by record produce Albert Greene. Greene saw raw talent in Bobby and offered him a chance to record. Bobby’s first single, I Ain’t Sh*t, was a breakout hit, a heart-wrenching ballad about his personal shortcomings. His 1975 debut album, Broken Bottles, Broken Dreams, became a soul classic. Audiences connected with the pain and redemption in his lyrics, which drew heavily from his struggles. Despite his fame, Bobby continued to wrestle with his demons, checking into rehab multiple times throughout the 1970s. By the early 1980s, his health declined due to years of heavy drinking. However, he found solace in his later years through community outreach, helping others struggling with addiction and homelessness. Bobby Jenkins passed away in 1995 from liver failure, but his legacy endures. His music remains a testament to the power of resilience, proving that even the most broken lives can create beauty and inspire others. #AI #AImusic #music #cover #rnb #blues #soul #disco

My cousin played this at our family reunion in 1985 and we all got put on punishment because we performed this song at the family talent show! What made it worse and why we perplexed by our punishment, our grandmama was our back up singer and our Uncle Bubba was the backup dancer.... 🤣🤣

Yo! Thank you uploader! I haven't heard this since my uncle Eugene aka Genie Mac took us to go see Let's do it again at the Beltline drive in movie theater in Grandrapids Michigan. This was actuality the first song in motion picture history to play during a blooper/outtake montage of a motion picture. After the movie credits. We were one of the last cars in the drive in jammin this in Eugene's 1972 Pontiac LeMans, when one of the drive in workers approached the driver side door, places his hand on my uncle Eugene's arm and said "Sir, you're going to have to leave we're clos-then my uncle Eugene cut his ass off mid sentence with his deep voice and said "Saaaaaaaaaay JACK! Unass me jive ass BLOOOOOOD! Slammed his 72 Lemans into drive, not only ripped the little drive in speaker that was attached from the pole to his inner door so we the movie but did a couple of donuts in the parking lot. Leaving the drive in worker looking dusted and disgusted, as we drove off laughing singing "I AIN'T SHIT" Maybe we all can start a tradition and play this song for our family the next time we take them to the drive in! 2025! Let's get it! 🙌🏿

Well first and foremost Netflix came out in 97 and Bitcoin in the earlier 2000s so I'm a bit perplexed about those saying they heard this song in the 80s or they went to a concert in the 70s to see this "group" lol.. it's wild how ppl will latch on to anything just to feel relevant and/or to be a part of something... This world ain't sh*t
