Uhraine. All that you have said is not new rules. That has how it has been since i was an internatinal student back in 2014. I had to do english exam. Either celpip or ielts. I did ielts and you are in implied status once you apply for a document and in waiting. Upon receiving your document then you are in status. Just ask alot of questions as you go along and speak with those already before you so they give you their experience.

You did good. My husband called last minute to ask if he can work when he is done with exams and they said no because you will no longer be considered a student. Had he not called, he could have done the wrong thing. Now he has been done for a week and is sitting at home waiting to apply for PGWP

High schools in Ontario stream line students in 3 categories : basic, general & academic. This was in my time, but now it might be different. Back when we had Grade13. General courses were for students going on to college while advance courses were for students who plan to attend university. Therefore, students who were enrolled in advance English (3AO, 4AO, OAC) the expectations were really high. And the focus was heavily on essay writing & grammar. Shakespeare was a must in Grades 11-13 advance English back then.

It’s on the IRCC website that it’s the general test you should take. What happened is lots of us don’t read the little highlighted areas. Which normally has additional information and then messed up ourselves. Please consult an immigration lawyer/consultant just to go over papers especially when it comes to your PR journey. One mistake can get your whole application denied

@ Yes the general test is required for PR as I also did it. He is talking about the test now being required to get your PGWP. This is new requirement which is effective for students finishing school after this November. With so much change occurring in recent times I would strongly suggest someone getting a second person such as an immigrant lawyer/consultant to look over documents before submitting. Can you imagine people having over 500points and can’t get a draw in the pool? Shows us how competitive it is now.

The rules were in place a long time ago. When students study here in Canada, or abroad, it is always very smart to stay on top of immigration policy changes. IRCC has Public Policy updates you can always research for study permit holders. It is the responsibility of the student to keep up with the changes. CRA is part of the federal government. It is best to stay organized and file accordingly.

English is a second language in Jamaica. Most of this vlog was done using patois. How many born Canadians do you think were able to understand you? I remember visiting Canada and my cousin’s wife was amazed that she was able to understand everything I was saying, because this had not been her experience why speaking with other Jamaicans.

From my experience, the site usually outlines everything step by step. Mine was a different route from yours, but I basically printed everything that pertained to my case and had it as a reference, while checking the website. Ensure you make the website your friend.

I don't know how much the rules have changed,but I think if you provide your exams results in cxc Gce etc,you don't have to take it,on your application I think the option is there. You can stay in the know by checking the IRRC website for changes. Its crazy how much the Celpip test have gone up,immigration is big busines!

Canada have their own English exam Ms. CXC is not an acceptable form. They have various English exams for intl student to qualify for a pgwp.

As I quote, "I don't know how much the rules +policies have changed,"before now persons whos first language is English has the option of using any form of proof to show the individual is proficient in English. I would also like to add the test has nothing to do with verbs,nouns,adjectives etc,it's more about interaction and real life scenarios to make sure citizens communicate effectively thus why there's an audio part to the exam also. Immigration laws+policy is ever changing,that's why it's important ti keep abreast and updated on the Irrc website.

Your friend may have misinformed you. If you are on an official break, such as winter or summer break. From my understanding, while you are in school, you can work up to 20 hours per week off-campus. However, during a break, you can work full-time with no limit on hours.
