Episode 21 is the one that got me to binge the show. My mom was watching it and the whole sacrifice was going on and i was blown away by the acting that i caught up in like a week 😅. when elena apologizes to jeremy for all the ppl he’s lost… god, i have my issues with elena (specifically s5-6) but the fact she also has lost so many ppl and been through sm. she has survivors guilt that only gets briefly addressed at times in the show, i honestly rlly loved elena sm in the first 3 seasons and felt sooo bad for her. i could never hate her even if in the end she was never my favorite character. she just suffers from insufferable YA main character syndrome but that’s not her fault 😭

You have to remember this town, certain families who are aware of the existence of the supernatural have a deep hatred for them. Their families history have involved killing them. TBH, it's really a reflection of our own reality and society, especially with the history of ancestors murdering anyone and everyone who were different. Sadly, we still see this today. It shouldn't be surprising that Caroline's mom would feel and think the way she does at this moment. Remember, a good thing about this show is that there's time for development and growth, if they can survive.

i kept giggling everytime you said you wasn’t gonna cry. even tho i watched this episode an unhealthy amount of times i STILL teared up when jenna died ughhh 😭😭 and then they gon play SKINNY LOVE AT THE FUNERAL like god their soundtrack like never misses a chance to intensify the emotions on screen. i’m excited for you to finish this season and start the next. i forced my ex bf to watch ts with me and we got up until s6 and like s2 of the originals i think but i’ve missed watching this show with someone and seeing them experience it the first time since i’ve seen it all already. thank you for being like my friend that i’m watchin this with. cuz lord KNOWS i tried to make so many of my friends watch this with me but they never got past the first 3 episodes 🥲

I mean turning someone into a vampire kind of does make them evil, but the logic used here by the council still isn’t’ very sound lol. I say kind of because it makes you extremely dangerous and even d**dly, sometimes unremorseful and calculated. But it makes no sense to go after the least dangerous ones and in this case argue that them offing Vicky, a supposedly “evil” vampire, is proof they’re all evil. Jenna died because Damon and the writers. The writers, because that's almost always what they do when the main character is a teenager or young adult. The adults, parents, guardians, have to be dead or powerless. Given Jenna's character, she would have taken Elena and Jeremy and left. Or tried and died in the process. I guess that would have been dramatic too. But I think it's a bit like Isobel and John. They offered Elena an escape and a way out, only they weren't close enough to her for it to work. Jenna was. And Damon...as usual. Reacts, creates problems, tries to fix them by creating more problems. Note Elena kind of made deals with both Originals, Damon screwed up both times. Only Elijah was more forgiving and still needed Elena alive and cooperating. Yeah, yeah, Damon did it himself, just him and all. Who cares? It looks like Elena's side is breaking the deal. Because it's somehow unequal, Elijah and Klaus should control theirs, but Elena shouldn't? Klaus gave a warning, Elena's side didn't listen, Elena's side is punished. Rick let Damon in to see Katherine, Klaus sensed something, Jenna, not only Elena's aunt but also Rick's girlfriend, is dead. Regarding Elijah, I never realized way he was then so much blamed for breaking the deal. Um... Elena's team, Damon and Elena herself, first broke the deal twice, showing that they didn't give a damn about deals. They made their own situation worse, and then Elena return Elijah to solve everything. And in the end, when Elijah's reason for killing disappeared, why else should he kill Klaus? Is it just because Elena's team screwed up with Klaus so much that they need revenge? This is what Elena gets for fighting for her life, but Katherine had already warned her. So Elena was right initially, and everyone else was wrong. If she had surrendered to Klaus, told him everything honestly and told him who not to touch, and who could intervene and try to save her, there would have been a better chance that her loved ones would have survived. Because the situations are different. In canon, it was them against Klaus and they wanted to kill him. If Elena had been able to surrender right away when she wanted, she would have immediately shown that she honestly wanted a deal, to protect her family for her life, and would have separated herself from any actions of the team, and would have tied their hands. I also cry every time I watch this scene.
