My electronics upgrade on my 32 foot catamaran. I have removed the 12v TV and installed a new panel. The plan is to install 2 raspberry PI credit card sized computers running home assistant and open plotter connected to my old boat data bus (both wireless and wired) add a 16" screen, a 6" e-paper screen, 6 M5 Stack Dial displays, an old Samsung phone running Dex for media viewing and using Navionics. a number of 12v to 5v DC to DC converters to power everything and a dedicated fuse and power distribution block..

Great information. Music is too loud, it makes it hard to hear you.

Links to the specific parts and just being realistic about how much they cost is much appreciated. Suggest avoiding inserting your opinion about if it's cheap or not, let us decide that ourselves. Instead, include relevant information (like how much a competing product from Raymarine costs). Should probably also mention when you use things that are not marine grade, and how much it matters for that specific item and how you are using it. M5 Stacks all inside? Will the ebook reader survive tropical climate? Internet is full of videos of things people built that don't actually work in the long run. Just be realistic if something is definitely marine grade and should last until the next refit, or if it isn't marine grade but you are using it in a way that it should still work. When you combine these two pieces of advice, you also sound really smart: "For 130€ mounting the ebook reader inside where it shouldn't get wet or have moisture buildup it will hopefully last a long time vs a 610€ Raymarine i70s display." Really specific information too early can be confusing. Keep things more general until you are ready to explain how the really specific detail fits into the larger picture. (ex: 6 M5 stacks? Why so many? For what? Where? How? They won't all fit on that panel along with 2 other screens. We have more questions than answers. Just say ~"some M5 stacks"). In a conversation, you would get feedback allowing you to adjust the level of detail and/or explain things as you go, but in a monologue you need to be a little more deliberate. Label the links (worst offender is the "shorturl" link, but you wouldn't even need a short URL if was a list of names followed by a link) openplotter link is broken (typo) add link for the fuse box remove link and mentions of Navionics (they aren't in this video. And it's confusing why you specifically tell us you have a backup nav software and then say you don't recommend it.) remove mentions and links for Samsung products (again, not in this video, and kind of confusing. Is "android phone for screen casting" what you are trying to tell us? ) The M5 stacks and the 16" screen are actually not in this video, but they should have been. If you edit the picture of the cabinet door so that it shows the planned layout with the 16" screen, M5s, e-ink etc. you can really really tie it all together. Should be a quick edit and repost. Good luck! Do you have any requests for information from US? I have experience with Moitessier2 HAT, MacArthur HAT, Maiana AIS, OpenPlotter, OpenCPN, O-charts, Victron stuff (Their accessories are all overpriced. Their solar charge controllers are worth the extra cost due to high quality of hardware and software.). People might be interested to track down any other random bit of info you might need too. Post your shopping list and get free advice. Other things I noticed: - Are you sure you want to mount the fuse box to the door? Cable routing will be easier if you mount it to the inside of the box. - Are you sure you want to leave all that carpet in the cabinet? Might not be so good for moisture or heat. Suggest closed cell foam for the exterior walls and none for the interior. - Supposedly the cool kids are using AvNav instead of OpenCPN now: open-boat-projects.org/en/avnav/ As I understand it: It's plotter software that runs as a webserver, so you can connect to it from any device on your boat (typically a tablet in the cockpit and the same RaspPi it is running on at the nav desk) and it "just works" instead of all the various things people have tried to do to get OpenCPN working in the cockpit that end up being hard to set up and/or more expensive than commercial chart plotter and/or fail prematurely.

Thanks this is all realy good advice. I will delete sone of the links as they will be explained in future videos. I am new to this and will be doing weekly update videos of my progress and I expect to get some things wrong and will be updating as I progress and showing what works and what fails. I will never be fully dependent on any of this as I have charts and a lot of working old marine grade equipment already installed that you can see in see my boat tour video. I am looking for a marine grade rugged android tablet for use at the helm if any one can recommend one they have used.
