I still believe that we need to use both, because there are places and times that both suit the situation and circumstance so we need to be able to utilize both. I get it for planting but if you need GPS to catch grain out of the combine you may be in the wrong line of work. Good to see you, best regards from Indiana.

believe it's more to know where the combine is on the field, which is quite useful to know on big fields where you can't see the machines right away due to the landscape. But for CTF you absolutely need to use the GPS steer to stay in the tracks, though AFAIK CTF is not done in the US

I'm also in awe, but not awestruck, as a retired Cat, and JDeere, service mechanic, and service managers, my concern then and now is, what happens at 1 AM when something goes south, how do you keep going without a tech coming to the rescue, not everyone has a laptop to troubleshoot and fix the " gone South" issues, it's not like firing up the Model D JD by the flywheel, or getting into a 4570 and going to work with some tools in the toolbox, and fixing in the field, I can go on and on at what I fixed and instructed of how to, but today I would need passwords into Cat, or JD to even adjust a Hydraulic pressure, end of preach, " not farmer, logger friendly" tough times ahead, yes tech is good, but where is " longest living tractor, PU, bulldozer" ads that we had ? Gone are those days, my family farm in Sask Canada has empty seats in combines and a operator sits in a PU while they harvest, Hmmmm not for me.

Makes sense, with need to conserve, do more with less manpower, more accurate planting and harvesting. It's a cost on the front end that should result in savings on the backend. You use technology to manage your cows.
