Kinda in the same situation, I have been looking for my dads old high school car. 1970 Chevy nova triple green non ss. So many story’s have been told about it. He thinks it’s crushed but I doubt it. He won’t contact them either. But ran into one of there family members and I said let’s go ask them. He said no don’t. Like really, I want that car back so bad it’s not even funny. I’m glad you were able to buy yours back and bring it home. And to see the look on your dad’s face was priceless.

Absolutely killer video!!!!! Same reason i ended up buying a 49 Merc. Dad graduated in 1960. All i heard about was stories of the mid fifties and the guys with Jimmy Dean Mercs. How 3 of him and his buddies chipped in for one to work on around 58. They seen Buddy Holly on his last tour in 59. So i get it!!! Glad this video found me. Grew up with my paps green 55’ Chevy. 327 2x4, 4 speed. Sold it when I was 10 or so. Luckily we still have his other cars I grew up with. My pap and great uncle use to bury cars in our farm after they wrecked them in the 50’s-70’s. Great story.

MAN O MAN i loved watching this brought tears to my eyes several times.... i have my dad's 1967 Camaro that he bought in June of 1980 when he was a sensor in high school. my dad gave it to me when i graduated high school in 2008 i enjoy taking it too car shows with my dad and occasionally too the drag strip on a Friday night for TNT.i was brought home from the hospital when i was born in the back seat of that old Camaro. so, i know how much these old cars mean too us. too some they are just old cars too us they are family... Seeing you sitting next to your father’s car and knowing it’s the beginning of your journey had me riveted to my chair. I’m 65 years old and disabled, I lost my dad in 1991, he was 58 old and smoked cigarettes since 13 or 14 years old. Daddy died from emphysema leaving my mother behind. The last coherent words daddy told me was “son take care of your mother.” Then he told me “I Love You Son”. Your story parallels mine. There’s no car in mine and what I heard from you was finding the car was obviously your goal. Loving your father, thanking him and showing him that you love Jesus. The car is just a thing, it’s important for others to see that car to stay connected so they can hear about a son’s love for his father. Like you I learned everything from my father. Most importantly I learned that without Jesus I would be destined for hell. My father taught me how to fix anything including cars. My daddy stood as my best man when I married my high school sweetheart. I was 19 years old and I wanted to show him that he was the most important man in my life, on earth. Awsome!!! I can relate so much to a very special 69 camaro convertible me and my father found when I was 4!!!! That was 36 years ago, my mom's gone and I have my own son now but the car remains to keep making memories with me, my dad, and son!!! That car is priceless too me and is a family member!!!

From Manitoba, Canada. A very nice story and glad to see your Dad reunited with his 55. Some of his stories likely are similar to those of mine and friends of mine raising hell with our cars in the 1970's. I was given a 57 Chev 210 sedan in 1971 which had a 235 six in it. It was soon replaced with a 350, Corvette clutch, scattershield, Muncie 4 spd and a 3:73 posi. I drove that car all through the 1970's and into the 1980's. My wife and I took it on our honeymoon in 1978 from Winnipeg, Canada to New Orleans over to West Palm Beach and then up the coast highway to Hartford, Ct where her family was from. In Hartford, her father gave us a 1968 Ford station wagon with a blown engine to use for a trailer. So we loaded up the wagon with her possessions till the rear springs were sagging, bolted on a U Haul hitch and hooked up the 57 in front. 3 days and 1800 miles and we were back in Winnipeg needing a new clutch. Thank god I had put power disc brakes on the 57 before we left on our 10,000 mile honey moon trip. The old girl is sleeping now in the garage after over 125,000 miles of use but I am now retired and she is on my agenda for a rebuild. I sure wish I could have met your father in June of 1978 as we roared through North Carolina!

What an amazing story! I have a similar story with my dad and his old '71 Chevelle wagon he had when I was a young kid. I searched for 15 years for it, finally found it, but was too rusted out to buy for the price he wanted. But my dad and that wagon are the reason I am the way I am.
