I'm getting the idea the reason that Dana never reconnected with her adoptive grandmother whom is basically the only one who cared about her was because of the mother(the grandmother's daughter). When she read the will, the mother found out that the grandmother made changes to it and left the money to Dana. She resented it because she felt the money should've gone to her so she can get Daniel a better life. Maybe the grandmother found out how greedy her daughter really is and never learned the value of money. I think a part 2 is needed where both mothers are out on the streets and that they're facing karma for their actions.
