This is actually true. I can't tell you how much time I've spent slaving over analyzing those captcha images to determine whether there might be a bike in one of them. The least they could do is make the pictures less BLURRY.

actually recaptchas dont care much which pictures you choose.That's very easy for bots nowadays. They actually track the mouse/trackpad movement of your cursor to see if you have the minor inflections that a human has. Some robots will generally pick the correct images, but they make the mistake of moving the mouse to the picture in a perfectly straight line, which triggers the recaptcha. So as long as you get around half of the images right, assuming you are human, you can pass.

@@thelordz33 On that note though, can you prove humans are sentient? After all, we are also just following "programmed" responses. Emotions are nothing more than electrical and chemical changes in our body and brain, and can be controlled via external means such as medication and electronic stimulation. There's no reason these same reactions can't be created artificially. I think we can create AI that is indistinguishable from humans. But I think it will be a very, very long way away. There will be people that will argue they are still just following programming and aren't "human", even once they are able to learn and create and invent and make decisions just like humans can. And they won't be entirely wrong. But I don't think they will be entirely right either. Sentience / consciousness isn't something that can really be measured externally.

@@dudeurodude3845 I can’t say for sure how they remember it, but the way binary works is that each string of 8 bits represents a number from 0 to 255. Those numbers then represent a letter. So for example, 65 represents a capital A, and in binary that looks like 01000001. As long as you know how to convert binary into a decimal number, you can then convert that value into its corresponding letter in ASCII. So you don’t need to memorize each pattern, you just need to know how to read it.

Captcha input from human users serves as a solid backup for this human part and makes the learning much faster (imagine how many thousands of people do this every day, every hour..)

Pretty much every character in standard English (and several that computers don't typically print) is mapped to a table ranging from 0 to 255. Codes 65-90 are capital A-Z, and 97-122 are lowercase a-z. The binary numbers in the Captcha spell out "THIS IS STUPID" (it includes the spaces). For anyone not wondering, I'm sorry if that explanation wasted your time, but hopefully you learned something new.

Serious PSA: Real choking often doesn’t look like what we’re shown in movies and shows. If the person can’t speak, cough, or make any noise, then it’s a complete blockage. Before performing the Heimlich try striking them on the back first; this is because even successful Heimlich can cause serious injury. Have them lean forward so that the thing will hopefully come out of their mouth when loosened, then give them 3 or 4 sharp whacks between the shoulder blades. If that doesn’t work, then proceed to the Heimlich.

Nah. Theres this thing called disruptive patterning where you just randomly change one or two (or more, but you normally only need one or two) by a tiny, almost imperceptible to humans, amount and it completely breaks image recognition. That's how captchas are going to work if algorithms get ultra reliable at image recognition. It's genuinely wierd how badly a couple of slightly altered pixels mess up image recognition by the way. There seems to be no good reason for it.

If you had an AI trained to recognize a bike, altering a couple pixels here and there is not going to throw it off. It's not looking for two images that are exactly the same, it is looking for patterns it has recognized after being fed *hundreds of thousands* of images of just bikes. I'm not aware of the term "disruptive patterning", and google doesn't seem to be either.
