@@bricksculptit would look even better if you put the brackets on all sides and not just on 2 of the sides so the edges alternate and there isn’t a side with a straight line down at the edge because of all the brackets being stacked up I’m not sure if it’s possible but I think it is. If you switch sides after every other bracket you can still put the 2x4 flats on

That's exactly what I wanted to tell you in the last video's comments. Two opposing sides thinner to oberlap the 2x4 tiles and make a sharp edge. Glad the other guy showed you! For Lego Ideas your entry may be as weak as crap to get the 10k supports. It will be designed by Lego from 0 anyway. Fair enough, stability might be considered a factor for the selection which entry will be an actual Set

i agree with that sentiment about the ideas that are too complicated being unlikely to be chosen. part of the appeal of lego is that with simple instructions and parts you can make something cool, if the directions are too complicated people will be confused or lose interest before they can make the creation.

There might be an issue in making the top and bottom connections legal, since all sides are slanted. Not sure how much of an angle lego allows for something to be legal, but if you want to test it, build a short obelisk with a very exaggerated slope (like 45 deg or something, just not 30 deg since sin(30 deg) = 0.5 which could make stuff fit even though it doesn’t generally, 45 is good since the hypotenuse is irrational. If stuff fits without issue in the extreme case, it should be super legal, barely an inconvenience, in the real obelisk. I think you might have to limit yourself to pythagorean tripplets for the slope for the top/bottom connection to truly be legal. (Again, depending on what the acceptable angle deviation is when determining what is legal).

Yeah it's slightly illegal at the top and bottom.

Luca´s solution is so elegant but also so obvious that I feel stupid not figuring it out before. That takes care of the sharp corners but the middle pieces are still a bit of an eyesore, at least for me. You could get one long smooth wall on the middle by attaching panels from above and on the crossbeam support them from inside from the lower one. The problematic seams just mone to the sides that could be covered up. There would be a long inset on the wall but better than paneling that I suggested earlier.

I absolutely love the redisign. Just recently found your chanel and have since been following this series with ever more fascination. I find it really awesome how far the concept and design has come. The like the thought to make it a lego ideas set. But i am worried that lego would absolutely butcher this set... just as the orient express some time ago, and many more i guess. Furtheremore it wouldnt do this creation justice if it was in 20 different shades of offwhite :( If i am recalling correctly there are other sets by different manufacturers that were created in colaboration with a moc creator. And im just seeing possibilities with this one having prints across multiple pieces [or prints in general not stickers] and a lot more... Not even mentioning the price... Im not sure how many pieces this build has but i wouldnt be willing to pay 10ct+ per piece for a set containing not only, but also a lot, of rather small parts ^^ Something along 4ct to 5ct per piece would be mutch more my speed. Sorry if i spread a bit of "lego hate". I dont know what your view on lego as a company is... well i forced you to listen to part of mine :) Enough negativity. No matter how it is /will be i looove this series and... well all of your stuff to be honest :) And i am looking foreward to the next step in this series.

You’re talking to a man that’s redesigned his jet over seven times. If you are not happy with a build and you want it perfect Wells that will drive you crazy.

Have you considered using square signs as a way to hide those vertical cracks? No, really! The variation in it's depth can be minimised by playing with snot techniques!

DUDE. It's an OBELISK.. You HAVE to film it standing vertically. At least once it's finished.

Call me a contrarian but I really like the symmetry of your original design. I can't deny the corners are better now. But viewers will always view 2 sides at a time and the sides are clearly different structurally in the new design (even with white brackets). That's a tad more distracting to me personally than the corners.

I still prefer the old stepped version, but this smooth build is getting better and better all the time. Very impressive. Mending the gap in the corners goes a long way to making this obelisk seem like a monolith. I'm interested to see where it ends up once you have all the necessary pieces.

Thanks! There is still a ton of value to the older stepped design!

Can I say a stupid thing to say? I still didnt subscribed because I am afraid of this channel. I feel that I will be even more submerged into lego if I clicked that button, which is terrifying at this moment, my house is chaos. The time I arrange a system/a studio for lego, I will subscribe, I promise. (Yet I still didnt miss any obeliks or piece update).
