Amazing video, Simon! I was a big fan of black metal when I was 14/15 years old. I walked away from Black almost completely by the time I was 18, since I was struggling at the time with some serotonine issues and black metal world was not helping me keep my head above water (animal abuse/cruelty in many bands of the scene repulsed me and started to undermine my fondness of the whole genre, although I still kept listening to my favs like Darkthrone, and perhaps a couple more) Now I'm 30 yo and I grabbed my guitar after watching this video... well, I've got to say that I remembered why I liked this music so much back then. It's mesmerizing, haunting and, in some way, from yore...ancient. Thanks for the reminder!

I love your videos - I've been playing guitar for a while but finally decided to take it seriously and your vids are super helpful. I find the fast tremolo picking to be a challenge when learning black metal, especially switching between strings but I'm working being less clumsy with it. Can you do a lesson on Unanimated's "storms from the skies of grief" or "Oceans of Time" ?

You have an amazing sound in there! This is perhaps a bit silly, but... could you just play the whole song and put it on youtube too? I would then proceed to download it and play it over and over again:)

1:18 I can't play that last barre chord. After I put my little finger on the 6th fret the 3d string becomes muted, seems impossible to hold them all at the same time. Any tip?

the meaty part of your finger should be what is pushing the strings
