As someone who is trained to deal with situations like this watching Drae do this gave me more anxiety then doing it myself in real life.

Few tips for real life scenario: First thing you say to the emergency services is where you are, even if your phine dies they know where send help. Even if you break ribs don't worry. People can survive much longer with broken ribs than without breathing, continue chest compressions. Your safety is priority, if it's dangerous for you you don't have to help. Dead paramedic is bad paramedic. If person is unconscious remember to check breathing every few minutes even if that person was breathing previously because they can stop. If they stopped start doing cpr. Don't be afraid to say to operator you don't know what to do, they're trained professionals and pride is less important than human life. That's essential of first aid, there's much more to it but these things above are the most important especially asking operator what to do because it applies to any kind of scenario: burning, poisonig, broken bone etc.

@@jellev4567 In my training (1 month ago) the staying alive is not the correct one. You should do 30 compressions at 120 bpm (aka 2 per second for 15 seconds), 2x blow air, repeat. Staying alive is between 90-100 bpm, so it is technically to slow.

A tip from my driving instructor. If the person is awake, introduce yourself with a handshake and a hug. That way you get to feel their skin (cold/clammy/hot), their pulse, and listen to their breath. If you're in a situation where there's nothing you can do in regard to injuries, keep holding their hand. It helps more than you'll ever know, unless you're in that situation yourself.

I had a roleplay scenario like that at my motorbike safety training. There's so many things to do, including giving orders to bystanders and telling people that are just in the way to back off, that you do things in a wrong order or e.g. put the injured on the road which is not the safest place to do CPR. It was a free training and I recommend to do it if you can.

When it comes to CPR and heart message, always just pump the chest of the victim to the rhythm of "Staying alive" from the Bee Gees (simply start with "ah ah ah ah staying alive" and you have the right rhythm already). And yes, the game had the same rythm when you did CPR on the dummies.

@mementomori55804 жыл бұрын
@@xARMM4G3D0Nx Actually, your information is wrong. It's still 100 bpm. I don't know where you got the 120 from, but please don't spread false information. The optimal is 100 bpm, achieving that is usually best with music at around 105-110 bpm as you're usually a little slower than that. 120 bpm can e accaptable, but 100 bpm is the optimum.
@xARMM4G3D0Nx4 жыл бұрын
@@mementomori5580 nope according to the DRK (german red cross) 100 compressions is the bare minimum, any less could lead to catastrophic undersupply of the brain. Therefore faster is better than slower and you shold aim for the 120 to not get below 100 compressions.

Chest compressions, gotta love em. Even if you do happen to break one or more ribs, it's more important to get the blood moving with the compressions. You should do like 100 beats per minute, so you could do it in time with the song Staying Alive.

CPR techniques can change which is why you need to renew your certification I think yearly? Also, one thing about this game is no mention of not moving someone who may have a neck injury or back injury as you can actually cause them more damage and possibly paralyze them. Overall, a fairly ok learning experience. Weird game though.

As someone with extended first aid knowledge, I feel I need to point out that I would not sit or lean in a car just to turn off the ignition if airbags were not deployed. Sometimes airbags don't deploy when the crash happens and can deploy later. And if you try to shut off the ignition of that car and airbag deploy, that can be very dangerous and lead to some nasty injuries.

@ItsHaisho2 жыл бұрын
@@gabrieldankers2224 If you're very careful to shake their shoulder, and ONLY their shoulder, as lightly as possible, then you can probably get away with it. Or even just tap them if you're worried about shaking them. Airbags can break ribs, noses, or even necks. They can kill somebody immediately if they hit in the wrong place.

It's not about saving the engine. You kill the ignition before helping so you don't endanger yourself - a turned on ignition or running engine can start a fire (especially in accident situations). As a helper your own safety is ALWAYS PARAMOUNT.
