Long story but one time I was listening to a podcast with two dudes analyzing Outkast's entire career and one of them didn't know Rosa Parks was a real person. Not exactly the same, but similar "you're missing essential context and it just got weird, sir" energy. For me.
@treefingers65723 жыл бұрын
@@trillian777 yeah that's kind of "you don't even understand the full point of this kind of music if that aspect doesn't even occur to or register with you". That's pretty bad, Brad not knowing Bootsie is totally forgivable compared to that bizarreness.
@LaughterCigar3 жыл бұрын
I mean, he just said in the title that he "just witnessed history" listening to this album, so I'm not surprised he doesn't know who Bootsy Collins is. Don't get me wrong, this is a fantastic album, it's really well written, performed and produced, but it's the farthest thing from "history making". In fact its biggest selling point is that they're accurately impersonating a sound and aesthetic that's many decades old, so not really inventing anything. His whole reaction feels like he's never really listened to soul music before, so as I said, I'm not surprised that he doesn't know nor cares who Bootsy is.

Yo, your reaction is great because it’s real & genuine. That said, ‘Bootsy whatever’ smacks of a reckless irreverence typical of a certain generation or type of music fan, as if to say, who they don’t know don’t matter. In this case, thas almost blasphemous my man. Bootsy Collins is not only the host narrator of this album project, but he’s a legendary bassist in soul & r&b, one of the main players in the development of funk bass playing going back to James Brown, & through Parliament Funkadelic & Bootsy’s Rubberband. He also happens to be the one who named the band, Silk Sonic, which he states on the 1st cut, Intro.
