Chinese is considered one of the hardest languages to learn for English speakers, but it is also considered one of the very best languages to learn math. It makes me wonder if mathematicians would have an easier time learning the nuances of that language ~ almost as if by instinct 🤔

Oh Jade it was a big sweet surprise to see that you work through a maths journey too :-) There's nothing wrong with using elementary books for refreshing elementary maths (cause higher level books typically do not include those topics). As an advice, I would suggest you get help from a friend, instead of spending much time on reading it alone which would be quite inefficient at times. As an engineer, I wish, from the bottom of my heart, I could help you in your alternative journey. But I don't know how: me living in Turkey, the only possibility seems online, but that's where I need help to get through ;-))

Wow the 11+, I didn't know that still existed, I think my mum took the 11+ and she's in her 70's. I hear what you're saying about "forgetting maths" for me this is far truer of language, at least with maths there is a logical way of getting to an answer where I view language more like poetry or art, there are large parts of it that don't make sense and the only way to know it is to actually ask someone and remember it, maybe it's just a fundamental way in which different brains work in different ways, anyway nice to bump into one of your videos again, it's been years!!
