We're essentially taught our whole lives that the only people we're allowed to show affection towards are our parents, our wives, and our children (but not too much affection to our sons because they have to learn the same thing). We are taught that being affectionate is a feminine attribute. It's such a dangerous and toxic mindset. That's why I love this video for trying to shatter it.

Maybe in America men are taught to keep affection to people they know but even in Hawaii they are physically affectionate with others. Culture, upbringing, much has to do with how we treat others. But don't touch me if you don't know me lol

@kimberly lapp not only in america, there are a lot of countries in the world where this happens. My father rarely shows affection in words and it kills me. When he compliments me I get really surprised and I tell him "why are you saying that?" And he gets confused too because he doesn't realize how infrequent him giving (or receiving) compliments is.

The way that first man talked to Finn was so awesome to watch. Such an engaging person, and for a younger kid meeting strangers can be intimidating even in a controlled setting like this. He put him at ease from the moment they met, engaged with him all about his outfit and his name and told him about himself as well, just love to see connections like that, and that guy has a special power in the way he can talk with people, because I’m sure it’s not just children he’s so charismatic with!

Statisticaly, girls are more agreeable than boys, that's the reason girls compliments each other more(There's also girl competition so those compliments might be fake, but they still try to be agreeable). Generally, guys have way more libido than most girls, so guys tend to do the first step and compliment girls way more than the other way around. Generally, guys receive almost no compliment except from their family and even then, there's a lot of bad families. Between guys, competition can be a good thing, but it also pushes them to appear stronger. It's almost instinctual. They don't want to put the other one on a pedestal by complimenting him, they want to be the one on the pedestal.. maybe to impress potential girls, by ego or simply to dominate. It's not just social influence, testosterone is a big factor. It's not likely that men can compliment other men the same way women do. The thing that can change in my opinion, is that women can start complimenting guys more.
