I think generally, when Malaysians are being honest, we usually have a negative opinion on the US. The government, gun violence and maybe ignorant people in general (Not refering to you, specifically, of course). But when asked, specially by an American, the answer would be Kanye, NY, Disney Land and etc. Haha

Malaysian non Malays especially Malaysian Chinese always thinks high about Singapore and Main land China but have negative minds about Malaysia . American people is one of the most highly respected people around the world because they bring down the evil regime nazi and Japan. Those people that have negative views on America is either related to mainland China supporters or anti America because of some majority racist religion believer. I am Malaysian Chinese , although west did many bad things in the past we as human being shouldn't have bad or negative thinking based on their race or nationality. Of course America have more freedom than Malaysia but everything have pro and cons. No country is perfect and we should respect regardless of race religion and nationality.
@ywce191

@@louong93 I don't think race has anything to do with it and neither has it anything to do with the past. The opinion on America has changed over the years. It's no longer the glorified country it once used to be by us Asians, at least to us younger generations. The gun violence, the ignorance of some of its people, the wars they get involved in. Plenty more problems but that's just something every country shares.

Good to see your post and know you're still having fun. I'm surprised that more Malaysians didn't have a negative opinion of America. Not one of those people said anything bad about America and I would not have expected that. It made me feel good. Being that I live in America, my answers are biased, but the first thing I think of is BIG. It's a big country--takes 3 or 4 days to drive from one side to another. It has multiple time zones; the weather is totally different in different states; the landscape is totally different in different states such as Florida compared to Utah. Cities are big; houses are big; cars are big; food portions are big.

Whether they know it or not, most Malaysians actually have some form of stereotypical view of America despite not having been there. We are totally surrounded by American culture, food, fashion, movies, music, books and of course, the media which shapes our perceptions. Also, Malaysians by nature are not very comfortable to speak their mind when asked an open ended question.

I was also very exited to experience snow for the 1st time, I guess because of what I saw in American movies growing up but then realized it only looks good in Christmas pictures and greeting cards but not when you're outside in the freezing cold. I like that they have lots of natural tourist places like the Grand Canyon which can't be replicated or found anywhere else.

You "hope" that KL turns to YOUR IDEA of Wall Street, not realizing *you're describing any city's CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT aka CBD.* Funny, it's you who seem to not have gone out much, since SO MANY COUNTRIES IN SEA HAVE EVEN BETTER CBD's than New York now that's it festering with illegal immigrants & crime. Manila has a better CBD compared to London & New York as said by Brits & Americans themselves- in Makati and BGC area, you must never have travelled outside of Malaysia to think New York is the best, LOL! It means you've never even been to Ginza in Japan to be hoping New York comes to Kuala Lumpur! Investopedia: Wall Street is used as an umbrella term to describe the financial markets and the companies that trade publicly on exchanges throughout the U.S. This connotation has its roots in the fact that so many brokerages and investment banks historically have established HQs in and around the street, all the better to be close to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).- Ergo, WALL STREET IS FOR STOCK EXCHANGE & financial business... What? You thought it's just for movies, tv shows & decoration for tourists? SARC.

Serena, Venus and Coco gauff. I'm Malaysian. I used to think America was super great until Trump took over. I love watching American movies, I guess those movies kind of brainwash my brain a little bit. But when Trump took over, I took interest in learning about America. I realized that not all things are great about America. Expensive health care, frequent school shootings, the existence of Karens, cops' violence against black people, America's invasion of Iraq & Vietnam wars. Those movies will not show you this. So my views of America drastically changed in recent years. I still think America is a great place that I would like to visit (Riding a train at Rocky mountain is my dream), but I also think that the country is not perfect & has many flaws just like other countries.

May i have some thoughts too... 1st thing and the list,about America(as for me) The most "busy body" politicians(self claimef sherrif of the world,but ignores own failures such as homeless prob,use tax money for trilions of dollar for "outerspace" that not totally important whereby they can feed their people or make better development so will creates more job,letting other "hidden hand" controls the country,"karen attitude" at unacceptable level lol,some of the police attitude towards certain people/races ,failed parenting resulting the children becomed the brats". Sort of...what comes 1stly to my mind. Im sorry..we hv failures too,but any country failed to feed their people basic compulsory needs,very hard to accept. As the Chinesse proverb says "the fish will rot starting from the head" and "There are no bad soldiers,accept bad officers". "Bad leaders created from the bad citizens". Point to ponder.(for the of the countries too)
