can you make a recommendation video for new adult books that have a YA feel - so not steamy romance, but books that deal with the college experience and what it feels like to be independent. Kind of like: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell or We Are Okay by Nina Lacour - I guess I'm thinking books set in college that are written in the YA style? 😂📚

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden - I wanted to read this book for so long and finally found a secondhand copy. I am very glad I could read it ! I am currently on book 16 of the year, which is absolutely not much. Jaw pretty much dropped reading that, though, I had no inkling from reading the book. Just...wow. Unfathomable, and telling, to say the least.

Their is a sequel coming out in August of next year which I am honestly SO excited about! If you haven't, READ THIS BOOK!!! It has witches and witch craft and a bunch of LGBTQ+ rep. Please check it out, it's amazing and I cannot recommend it enough!

It has a cool cover but a review dissuaded me away from picking it up. Also upon learning what blood magic is, I am disgusted. Another book I had in my Amazon cart for a good while which includes it is Root Magic, but I decided to get that out of there. It doesn't help that a lot of my worst reads of the year were published in 2021. There was one in particular that was okay enough, Instructions for Dancing, but I'm unhauling it regardless, and another that was pretty nice, Across the Pond by Joy McCullough, but 2021 published books I've picked up had not gone well, most of my 1-star reads from this year were 2021, I think one was a 2020 release.

That is one of the most basic list of favorite books I have ever seen. Obviously my favorite from 2021 would be Sunkissed by Kasie West had I read it this year but I'm saving it for 2022. The Ravens was exceptional, but the closing chapters had a terrible choice by the authors (or one of the authors), that was so bad and I would like to see corrected in the second book but they act like it's permanent in book one. If that is not fixed, then there is NO REASON for a book two to exist other than something that was mentioned in passing on one page and never brought up again that they clearly want to explore. Honestly based on how things went, I'm saving books for 2022 I intended to read this year that might've been favorites, but Her Royal Highness is the one that comes to mind when this question is brought up for books this year. Oh Across the Pond was pretty good, and of course Cool For the Summer was something.
