Peebs eats Chef Boyardee every day for one whole week! I also decided to rank all the items, so this doubles as a Chef Boyardee ranking fast food taste test review.
It's time for another Peebs food 1 week video! We've done a Chef Boyardee video in the past on the Chef Boyardee pizza kit, and we've watched a couple chef boyardee commercials, but now we're finally eating different chef boyardee canned pastas plus chef boyardee recepie revews! We've got chef boyardee ravioli, chef boyardee beefaroni, the chef boyardee mac and cheese, chef boyardee STUFFED beef ravioli, which is apparently the worst chef boyardee item according to the chef boyardee website. Then we've got the pasta sauce with beef where we have to cook our own spaghetti noodles, and two official chef boyardee recepies from their website. The ultimate canned food chef boyardee food review challenge showdown. A food battle for the ages. I'm just typing words at this point. Hello.

As an American Italian I'll say it like this....if you're in a pinch or really broke it's passable but if you have the means to make real pasta there's no reason to eat it. Tbh the taste isn't usually the issue it's the texture, all the pasta is way overcooked. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the term you guys would use is "Non per il cane"

As a guy who manages a Publix Deli with a big imported cheese case, the shredded parm can be expensive when you get the good stuff but it’s only good for certain applications (just like shaved parm). It’s a dry cheese and doesn’t melt well in general, especially in thicker shreds like that. If you’re not going to grate your own block always go with grated. You can get cups of grated cheese that don’t have the fillers and anti-caking agents like the green bottle stuff and have way more flavor!

Mr Peebs, consider microwaving your food on the edge of the rotating plate instead of in the centre of the microwave. This will often stop it from being cold in the middle. Try it out!

Those cans of cheese ravioli got me through marching band season in high school! There wouldn’t be enough time to go home for dinner, so I would keep a can in my locker and eat it cold before practice. Looking back, I’m horrified, but my teenage self was pleased with it. I’m not in any rush to try that again, but I DID check my local grocery stores and they all have the cheese ravioli in stock!

I will say, as an Italian, typically you would put the sauce you have into the pot holding the spaghetti and mix them all together to have the flavours incorporated evenly. That way the flavour is more consistent throughout the dish. Though in reality it is more of a preference thing overall Edit: and the powdered parmigiano is just..a no go. If you’re gonna have pasta, ALWAYS grate yourself the fresh stuff. It’s just unequivocally better

I really enjoy these videos and it was awesome that one was uploaded on my birthday ( April Fool's lol). The overstuffed ravioli has such low reviews because they changed the sauce. I'm a 90's kid and the overstuffed beef ravioli was my favorite. The sauce was thick, rich, and meaty. I even ate it occasionally as a teen and adult. When the pandemic hit, parents were ravaging the shelves to feed their kids at home. When Chef Boyardee returned to shelves, the sauce recipe for the overstuffed ravioli changed completely. The company struggled to get their products back in stores and cut corners drastically. Enough people have complained for them to try and change it back but they haven't. Sucks, seriously!

I'm almost 40 and I still love eating Chef Boyardee for an easy lunch when I'm working at home. And beefaroni with a side of toast is still my favorite over ravioli. I also remember that I enjoyed the stuffed ravioli over the regular one - haven't had that in years tho.

The trick to dealing with the thin sauce in these is to put parmesan cheese in it. Like - a lot of parmesan. It ends up thickening the sauce up (and helps with the mushy texture of the pasta).

Use a wooden spoon or spatula for stirring pasta, it's softer and won't break the pasta as easily, metal spoons rips it up. Hope that helps for your next pasta escapades
