They probably did something like what they did to cyclamate. There's an old FDA rule that if something is proven to cause cancer, it can't be used in food at all. Diet Rite revolutionized soda in the 1950s as it tasted just as good as regular cola - but with zero calories, caffeine, sodium, and sugar. Cane sugar was still king as corn wasn't subsidized yet, so Big Sugar was not happy that their monopoly on soft drink sweetness was in danger. They hired an independent lab who showed that cyclamate could cause cancer in rats. To get the same levels in the human body, however, you'd have to drink 550 cans a week! Unfortunately, the rule is old and absolute, so while Europe undid their ban on cyclamate ours still stands. It's really a shame too, diet soda that's actually less harmful and tastes perfect lost to us forever.

Omega Mart is part 2 of 3 interactive art exhibits in the USA. The very first building was in Santa Fe, NM, and is called Meow Wolf. The third is in Denver, CO, and is called The Convergence Station. I used to work at Meow Wolf. It's a seriously cool place. I've never been to the other 2 locations, but I've heard they're equally as cool in their own way. All 3 buildings are full of art created by local artists. The exhibits are constantly changing. I highly recommend going, especially if you're close to one.
