Been one of my favourite fighters since before he became better known, the Joe Smith fight was where people started taking note. The distance control and ring generalship Bivol has is amongst the best of all current world champs. Never see him clinch or spoil either, economical fighter. All the best Champ 🥊

Yup, started watching him after the Joe fight. Like how he box and watch some of his most recent fights. From there I started watching a video of his technique and also remember watching a video of a man breaking down how the champions at 175 could give Canelo problems. I remember thinking I feel like if Bivol ever fought with Canelo he could out box him, he’s like a upgraded Triple G. Better foot work, faster, bigger and better defense. year later I remember Canelo vs Bivol was officially announced and telling my family, friends and coworkers that Bivol actually has a chance to win but they just laughed at me and argued with me. I was 17 when the fight happened so I couldn’t gamble on apps but I bet my almost 900 dollars check with one of my cousins who was rooting for Canelo. Easiest money I ever made.

THERE'S WEIGHT CLASSES FOR A REASON. Canelo is the only fighter that fights four times a year and never leaves the gym and switches weight back from 168 to 175 and then back down and then back and forth so if you really think your body will be able to perform properly after doing all that to yourself then you have alot to learn about making weight does to you. Canelos already extremely bloated in the 2nd Rd with bivol. No way canelo was himself in that fight.

Didn't get rewarded? He immediately shot up the p4p rankings and was named fighter of the year largely off that win. Hearn shut him down? Hearn is the one who landed him the Canelo fight and put him in another high profile fight with Zurdo. Bivol is the one who killed his own momentum by pulling out of talks with Beterbiev earlier in the year (while legit trying to fight Munguia instead) which Beterbiev put him on blast for and rejecting the Canelo 175 rematch. Gvozdyk has also been calling him out but Bivol just ignores him. All that just to sit out inactive for a year and turn up fighting Yarde's leftovers.

The idea that Bivol is scared is a lot more pleasant. Either way, the point is moot, because at the end, Bivol said he was willing to fight Canelo at 168 for the belts or at 175 for more money. And while Canelo and his team were playing it up for the cameras and saying they’re trying to make the rematch, behind the scenes, they never even so much as made contact with Bivol. Not once. No talks were initiated, no offers were ever made to Bivol. They pretended he didn’t exists and just continued to lie in front of the journalists. If Canelo wanted to get Bivol in the ring, he would have gotten him in the ring. At any weight he wanted. But losing to him for the second time would do untold damage to his brand. So they put Bivol in the rear view mirror and never looked back.

It's a shame fights more champs than anyone and stays active whereas Bivol rejected the rematch and Beterbiev unification talks just to sit out inactive and turn up fighting a domestic fighter? Bivol wasn't making big moves prior to landing the Canelo fight and seems even less motivated after getting a taste of a big payday.
