I like noise music because by making it, you're basically giving up on being even remotely marketable so it becomes like raw expression. Its like the abstract art of the music world

I don’t really see how this is a bad thing, it’s a form that involves just kinda pure expression and nothing else, it’s not some grand art form you have to learn to master.

noise music is about texture, tonality, and nuance.. it is about being able to hear how the noise is shaped by the equipment that is used to process and create it. good noise actually conveys a lot of information in this way. sometimes it is about the dynamic passion of slamming massive objects around, breaking things, and screaming at the top of your lungs. always it is confrontational. and yes, you can tell good noise from bad noise. just listen to something like john wiese, aube, even emil beaulieau has more creativity in his pinky finger than anything you will find on some kid's bandcamp. it's not a "vibe" or "reset," it's a very established art form and has conventions and structure like any other.

I am an noise artist named Red Vortex. Got a Bandcamp site. I like variety in my noise and not constant walls of sound that don't change. That's what I have created. Love noise music and if people want it, I will make more and upload it on my site. I probably will regardless.

It may come as a surprise to some, but there is effectively zero gatekeeping in the noise scene. If you actually like noise enough to go the trouble to make some noise, you're in the club. That's the entry fee - just going to the trouble of doing it. Haul your crap out somewhere, play some shows - you're self qualified. I wish everything was that easy.

A big reason I am a fan of harsh noise is for just this reason. Anyone can do it. Literally anyone. noise isn’t about making profit or becoming famous and everyone has their own reasons for participating and enjoying it. I think everyone is an artist (whether they utilize their inherent creativity or not) and that art should be a thing everyone should feel able to do and express themselves through and that art or music or whatever that is made with fame and profit in mind is the true anti-art or anti-music. It’s weird being in these communities and watching others come in and out, Either you “get it” or you dont.
@CatFish107
@CatFish107 4 күн бұрын
Right on. When I first heard of the genre, then my first example, I thought, "Sweet, I want to make some of that!" I already was having fun with feedback in synths and guitar pedals,"without realizing there was a genre around that kind of thing. "What happens when I do this?", combined with a taste for abrasive timbres, seems like a good fit. Don't care if anyone wants to hear it. Nobody want to hear me learning guitar or piano either.

i love noise music, it sounds like it starts off where many records end, it just go's beyond. i love the speed of it, the chaos, it can be like a dot picture, listen hard enough and pictures and new languages emerge. i am 50 and listened to bowies low album and my dads psych records from 6 and went from there, ive done it all, italian prog classical acid folk , virtuoso stuff , but noise and ambient has been my fave genres for years. it can sound like a thousand piece orchestra, its very powerful and definitely deserves respect, albeit an aquired taste.

Noise music is super fun to make. I love taking audio and just shoving it to hell and back. Experimental music is fun as hell. And yes, I do make other stuff too, I’m a drummer and guitarist at heart, I grew up with metal, Jazz and progressive rock and stuff like that, it’s in my blood at this point Ps, what song is playing at 4:24? Is it from a video game or something? Love it. And I use fl studio too as well. Also, listening to noise before any melodic song DOES infect sweeten is. It improves everything.

Venereology by Merzbow is peak noise for me. It has to have something that sets it apart. I was in a noise musician group run by my old label I was on. Noise walls were so dime a dozen it's ridiculous. That shit does not move me at all.
@greencoffeemug12
@greencoffeemug12 Жыл бұрын
Did you mean that Venereology has something that sets it apart and makes it a great album or that it's "peak noise" in that it's a good example to you of how dime a dozen harsh noise albums tend to be? If it's the former I'd love to hear what sets it apart for you, harsh noise is something I've been exploring and getting into lately and it's interesting to hear people describe what they experience with it
@obsceneorchestra
@obsceneorchestra 10 ай бұрын
@greencoffeemug12 It sounds like industrial machines turning human. For me, the album art also fits perfect with the sounds. Kinda the opposite of It's sound. An image of a human torn apart, with the sounds of machines turning into humans, is such a visceral combination. This was a lot harder to explain than I thought it would be 😆

This is a wonderful video. As a listener of noise, it's definitely a vine you need to be in the mood for. But yeah that sensory overload is a good distraction from daily life. That being said as a noise maker, i started as someone who juat sisnt know how to play the instruments i played at the time. Now a days, i can make much more intense and higher quality Noise that i used it. Also Funnily enough my most popular album (which isnt saying much) is harsh noise blended with regular music. Good times.
