Hey Intern maybe instead of trying to attack the volcano wasting a bunch of points why don't you just make shield domes around the entire civilization which is probably much more easy and the best choice, pretty sure the dome is barely used and it can probably withstand the attack from the volcano.

For water lakes, I literally will on start on a world if the ocean/lake is huge. That way there is more of a chance of a raincloud to refill it. That way it'll last in theory a bit longer
