When I run with my friends I am always tank...I also always try to kill one of them with a tank buster if possible, or suddenly turn the boss to cleave them if no tank buster exists. This is how I keep them on their toes.

You forgot that Ninjas should keep 100% uptime on Doton for bosses. 18 x 80=1440 potency, and anyone who says DOTs only tick once per three seconds is a liar!

Not just raiton but katon too. Does great dps and doesn't require the tank to stand still so the ninja can feel special when their doton ticks. It would be a shame if ninja players found out their spec doesn't hinge on doton.

As a Bard main, I have another tip to offer: if you're in a party with another bard, play the same song as them at the same time because they stack really well!

I know you meant this as a joke, but even separate songs don't stack. A Minuet will overwrite a Ballad, and vise versa.

*Pro Tip for Tanks:* You can dodge auto attacks from enemies, especially bosses, by rapidly repositioning yourself. The best method is to run straight through the boss to their rear, or else run circles around them so they have to keep spinning around to try and find you. You will get complaints from melee party members like "I can't do my positionals" or "You're getting people killed by cleaves!" These players obviously are new and don't know what they're talking about. First of all, if you don't want to get hit by the boss, stand away from it and use your ranged attacks! All the good healers and casters know how to do this, follow their example and spread out. Second, ranged attacks don't have positionals, so you won't have to worry about DPS loss! If the boss arena is particularly large, you can kite the boss around the outer perimeter to reduce damage. Use Arm's Length to affect them with Slow status so they can't keep up with you.

I find this is a pretty good guide to be the Second Worst player in the game, because there is ONE GOOD piece of advice for tanking. Sprinting during mob packs is actually a form mitigation. Pop that or Arm's Length, n you can grab more mobs in a given pull before they can keep applying damage to you. May want to make sure the healer know about that trick before springing it on someone new to healer tho

Just curious, why would you use Arm's Length DURING the pull phase? Don't you want to wait for the stopping point to put it on and maximize the value you get out of it?

@@0Fyrebrand0 Arms Length works kinda weird compared to every other mitigation. What it does is that for the 6 seconds after you activate it any mob that hits you gets a slow debuff Applied to them that makes them take longer in-between attacks. The slow Debuff then lasts for 15 seconds and effectively drops your damage taken by 1/6th by making them take 20% longer to attack. All told though the way it works it doesn't actually kick in until they've hit you once. So in effect Arms Length is the mitigation that is least impacted by being used during the pull phase, and if you're pulling a wall to wall, chances are you want to start mitigations during the later part of the pull, in which case Arms Length will be the one you want, thanks to it being so different to the other mitigations. Finally on bosses all it does is knockback immunity as the vast majority of bosses are immune to slow in my experience.

Communication is really important when you're in a party! Make sure you have a macro tied to each ability where you announce it in chat, that way the group always knows what you're doing! Don't be afraid to spice it up with some flavor, I'm sure it'd be hilarious if you had Naruto-themed chat macros for your Ninjitsus!

Hon you can`t be the worst XIV-player. That title goes to a player in my FC who tries to raid Savage. It`s actually detrimental to have that player in your group when doin anything harder than a guildheist. I could not reach those levels even if I tried.

You forgot something: Always collect these shiny badges of honor with increasing numbers. Those are vulnerability up stacks or damage down stacks, i. e. you deal more damage or take less damage. You need as many of them as possible to clear content efficiently.

4:28 This will sound incredibly stupid, but it worked EVERY time. I used to tell people in the moggle mog fight. That if we DO NOT DANCE during the phase transition, we would all die. When people were too stuck up to listen? Guess what? we died. When they finally danced the second time, we breezed through it! (This was, of course, before they nerfed the fight into oblivion. Now a blind deaf comatose labotomy patient could do it! (and not feel your anger!)

Very funny video! Though there is one thing you mentioned that you unironically want to do. You do want to sprint when you are wall to wall pulling. Sprinting in between the first and second group of enemies is damage mitigation because most enemies won't be able to hit you during this time. Everyone should be sprinting to keep up with you. If you are a healer you want to be so far up the tank's butt during this that you can smell if they are wearing fresh underwear. (maybe not that close, but you do want to be close enough that if you accidentally aggro something healing/shielding that the tank can just do some aoe to grab them)

oh no, you absolutely SHOULD sprint in dungeons. that one's actually legitimately good advice. apart from getting through faster (like you mentioned) which is always a plus, monsters generally can't keep up with a sprinting player, so they can't get autoattacks on you until the pull has actually stopped. sprinting is mitigation, for real.

I want to do harder content, but I think I have a mental or physical problem preventing me. I did Zeromus as my first ever extreme outside of ARR amd even though it was easy enough to clear multiple times, my brain didn't like it because I would hyperventilate, shake, my heart would race much faster than it should. There's a huge disconnect, my brain thinks I'm in real danger or something. I don't know what I could do to fix this

If this is not irony, I was taught during treatment that the brain and nervous system can’t completely distinguish between positive and negative stress. If you are ‘too’ happy or excited about the fight or the loot or too concerned about performance it can trigger reactions that look like anxiety. I use music and conditioning to prevent this during Savage, but being less hyped or interested could ironically help resolve this 🤷🏻‍♀️ It could also help to tune the effects and sounds down not to give yourself a sensory overload, Zeromus Ex had lots of glowing and flashing lights, loud voice cues etc

You don't have to do your job quests either they're TOTALLY optional! And like, having dungeon gear is ok too cos ilevel doesn't really matter its just a bunch of numbers really.

If the dungeon lets you in, your ilv is high enough. Ignore all the people telling you you're "undergeared" and "shouldn't have Ironworks accessories in ShB content". Who knows better, some random plebs, or the developers who decided the minimum ilv for the content?

Yeah but the fight will slow down a lot. Of course you should heal when people are getting chunked, but the faster you clear fights, the safer fights are. Not to mention it cuts down on MP usage. If you're a shield healer especially like Scholar you can have a bunch of damage uptime by pre-shielding before a pull

Don't forget that scholars need to send their friendship fairy away because otherwise it'll heal the bosses to try and make friends with them.
