This song made part of the story of my youth in Manaus in the dance halls Spectron, Starship, Sheik Club and Bancrevea Club. It was a nice time vibe with Kon Kan hits all night long with the brothers. So; nowadays with 53, I'm thankful to God for had lived those years of happiness and sorrow sometimes. Great songs, creativity and perseverance in your musical career. Greetings from Natal/RN, northeast of Brazil.

I grew up in El Salvador in the 90s and this song was always playing. I later moved to the U.S , been there for almost 30 years. Currently visiting El Salvador and this song came on.... It brought back memories immediately, I didn't even realize I hadn't heard it in 30 years ( I've never heard this song in the u.s)

Kon Kan is a word play on CanCon, a Canadian Radio regulation enacted by the CRTC, Canada's FCC, in 1971 used a protectionist measure to require Canadian Stations to have 30 per cent of the stations musical content be of Canadian origin. Futhermore, the CRTC relegated Top 40 radio to stay on the AM band during the 1980's as a protectionist measure to prevent Top 40 formats from migrating to the FM Band. "I Beg Your Pardon" was a protest song geared towards the CRTC for its strangehold of Top 40 radio not moving to the FM Band.

Um....no it wasn't a protest song, but kinda a cool idea in theory. It had nothing to do with protesting the CRTC. I just thought it would be a fun silly name, kinda like Milli Vanilli, Scritti Politti, Tik Tok, Kon Kan, etc...something like that. It never crossed my mind that so many people around the world would care for years to come how i came up with the name Kon Kan....'shrugs' - go figure! 🤪

OMG Whose idea was it to bring Kimberley into the band? I had never heard of her before so I had to look her up. What a set of pipes on her, that girl can SING! And her energy, from her infectious smile to her dancing! She had me up dancing with her around my living room just like I used to do in the clubs when Kon Kan was played. What an awesome addition to Kon Kan!
