In this video I make custom board game piece holders and magnetic card holders for my board gaming table. I test my hand at mold making and cast them in a really awesome material called Jesmonite. The colors all turned out so cool, I promise you won't be disappointed making these for yourself!
Thanks for watching!!

This is what people don't get about resin printing. Even bendable resins are often not going to be long lasting and durable enough for normal handling and use. If you are printing Mini's, or small tokens, or knobs or something then printing in resin is fine. But for most things you are going to print the blank or guide in resin, and then actually make the final product out of something else entirely. I love how the color pops on that material! I have a love hate relationship with plaster and have always painted over plaster because it just doesn't take color. I'll need to try this stuff and see how it does with darker colors. I do like colors that pop, but I'm not sure I'd be so bold with those particular colors lol. But if it can keep a rich dark red or navy blue, forrest green, etc. Then it would be a game changer!

@@CaedenV you are totally right. The resin is actually a very soft material, which is great for this use case because it makes it easy to sand. Jesmonite is definitely capable with darker pigments, even black! I think it is actually easier to pigment it those colors than these neon colors.

I'll 2nd this! But chairs are terrifying to make lol. With a table you can pretty easily cheat with a screw adjustment on the bottom to make things flat... That typically isn't acceptable for chairs, which makes them terrifying lol

For the magnet polarity, splitting your stack and inversing one lf the stacks while marking on the plate or something of the sort would provide the same result with only having to take magnets from the alternating stack while maintaining the same method of placement.

Loving your videos! Big woodworker and board game nerd here. Also, I've been wanting to try Jesmonite forever, but it's been so hard to find here in the US, so also hyped to hear of that supplier you're using! I just found your channel and subscribed after watching your table build. I'm interested in how well the table has held up. Has the sandwiching of layers caused any issues? Do you think it would hold something like a 1 foot square board as a computer desk surface in the slot where your cup holders insert? I'm asking as I too am thinking of building a similar design and was wondering if it would do better to put wood screws in the bottom up through the three or four layers.
@make_or_die
@make_or_die 4 ай бұрын
@@berrymand71 Hey I appreciate it so much! You probably couldn't go wrong adding screws to the sandwich but those joints are long grain to long grain which are insanely strong and so far they have proven to be. Im very confident that I can manage an accessory to hold a laptop but this system definitely isn't the best for something like that, more suited for smaller attachments but those have proven to be so strongI'm confident. The biggest concern would be the angle of the wedge, but I think that could be easily mitigated.

How well do they hold up to downward pressure. Whenever I’ve seen gaming tables with these accessories I’ve always thought they would fall out as soon as someone bumped them or let their elbow rest on them. Love your builds and accessories!!
