Just watched the MM footage. It was fantastic. You live in a lovely area. We have no places that are accessible to public lands that aren't regulated to death and private property owners are worried about liability so I have to be sneaky or fly far enough away that I can't get decent footage. People around here have threatened to shoot my drones down and the law doesn't understand the laws and wouldn't care if they did. I am one frustrated and Grumpy Old Man! Keep flying and taking me along but most of all, stay safe!!!

@@DadRandom Santa Clara Volcano is a volcanic field and lava flow. The most prominent features are two cinder cones that rise above Snow Canyon State Park. The southern cinder cone and most of the north cinder cone are (within the boundaries of Snow Canyon State Park.)

ke4uyp I have reached out to the park concerning gray areas to the flight rules. You can launch a drone from the park overlook. But not from a hike. (The area is general aviation on Airmap) I have since stopped any plans to fly the volcano from that location. There are other Locations to fly the multiple cinder cones here. I suggested flight dates like cold months when the park has fewer visitors. Other state parks in Utah (Dead Horse Point) have been excellent in giving drone pilots an opening for flight. So I still can film that location because it is on the edge of the park boundaries outside of them without entering the park space. I will probably not. I fly the Ivins side of the Red Mountain carefully keeping outside the park as well. So, you will not see another flight there but you will see another location in the future. Yep, There are ways to fly the park legally, but I will stay clear of it, Sad, many amazing activities allowed there, but no drones, you can’t even hear them anymore, within 100 feet. 😌

I had planed to fly the Blue Ridge Parkway sometime but looked it up and it is a no fly zone everywhere. I don't know anyone with land anywhere near enough to access it so I guess I'll forget that. Guess I'll be videoing wherever I think I can find something worthwhile around here when this stuff is over and I get the chance. Take care My Friend!

Life of electronic models is about 2 years. Said that I don't expect a Mini 2 before late 2021. The Air was launched in 2018, so expect a new version in 2020. There are already some leaked photos of a DJI drone that could replace the Air, Mavic shape between Mini size and Mavic 2 size.

The redemption of the Mavic Mini...Yes! Awesome video footage. The pull back shot of the volcano was epic. BTW I once got the gimbal overload error because I turned on the Mini while the gimbal cover was still on and it jammed against it. Just did a restart and it cleared things up. 👍

My errors were probably because I got the drone wet in the other video. It was really wet at the stream. Many people have no idea how wet I was in the Rain Video. I used compressed air to blow the moisture out of the drone motors, but not the gimbal.

The phone mount I am using broke on the first day. I had to modify it to work, I recommend the PGYTECH model, $20 but it’s metal and foldable. My holder was all plastic and the minute I tried to tighten the phone mount, it broke the plastic. Yes, I have my phone cover on. My biggest complaint is that most of these adapters force you to remove your phone from the case. Thank you ! 😎

Fimi Palm: no external audio source yet. Someone posted a pic of a USB-C mic plugged in but they would not confirm if it worked. No Bluetooth connection on the camera or in the app, however it is advertised as having BT. Maybe perhaps in the next firmware update. The other thing that really bugs me is that when charging the Fimi, the green charging light will flash and never turn solid so the gimbal is never fully charged or no way to tell if it is....But I am loving the video from the gimbal. The wide field of view is awesome!!
