The only reason I think it might be cancelled is cuz Netflix created it to be a children’s show so they would have more for that audience but then an older audience liked it which just wasn’t really what they intended it for. Madison was 14 when she auditioned, filmed when she was 15. She will be turning 17 on June 25th. The idea was to run a couple of seasons and then tour as Julie and the Phantoms. This is an international success. Covid hits so much is in the air. The 4 still want to tour

i connect to the characters way more in JATP and the original songs are amazing while i feel like HSMTMTS og songs aren't as good (personally). I also just think JATP has a more talented cast that gets recognition (even owen and jeremy get to shine vocally) versus HSMTMTS who mainly joshua and olivia get recognition. Plus, HSMTMTS focuses too much on the relationships, i barely even care about olivia's character and a lot of side characters are annoying, the humor is awkward, while I literally care about all the characters in JATP.

I think Julie had a lot of character development, Luke had a little (but most of his stuff was kinda backstory rather than progress if that makes sense), reggie had literally nothing which is sad, Alex had some with Willie teaching him to loosen up and such but not that much, and Willie had quite a bit with the whole standing up to Caleb thing

There are a lot of bts footage of this show and it is even more interesting see how much effort they put it in the musical point. They are like ac actual band. Also The Perfect Harmony is written by Maddison and Charli aka Julie and the Nick. Since it is a Kenny show they said they wanted to wrote something similar the HSM roof top sequence.

“Julie and the Phantoms" was originally a brazilian musical series! It was on TV in 2011 and 2012. It was a huge success here in Brazil and one of my favorite series! The biggest difference between the original one and the Netflix one is that the original had rock songs, some of them almost indie rock. In the American "Julie and the Phantoms" the director decided to make pop songs. I liked it. Maybe we're going to have a crossover in the future. I love both of the shows 💕

I think Kenny Ortega actually said at some press conference that they cancelled season 2, not only because of COVID, but also the age difference between everyone. On top of that, Reggie's actor has a baby that he needs to be a dad to, so there's a lot of things that's in the way of a possible continuation of the show.

Kenny recently said that they still hope they can make a return if not another season maybe even a movie. But Netflix will not and has refused to give a reason as to why they canceled it. And all of the actors in the show said they were ready to go whenever season 2 was ready to begin filming then they got the call that they were canceled instead.

fun little detail: earlier in the series julies dad mentions what julies mom favorite flower was (cant remember the name) and in the last episode when julies asking for a sign from her mom the flower the lady gives her is her moms favorite flower
