They pulled the meanest stunt on us. They released a lyric video of Poison a few days before they dropped eps 1-4. Amd we ate that shit up. The song goes hard and is incredible. Super popular. We all knew basically what it was about... but we had no idea we were about to witness Angel being raped, completely against his will, suffering an entire night of repeated trauma. We all felt extremely guilty for liking that song. Beautiful play to really get us into the emotional feeling of the whole thing. The cast had a party just before the release and they all git up and sang their songs to a piano only. Watching him sing this live is incredible. All of them are, but he goes DEEP into character for it. And the pain at the end cuts.

Lilith is a part of Jewish folklore, she was said to be Adam's first wife but Lilith was made the same way Adam was so she wanted to be treated equally and refused to obey Adam, this was seen as bad behavior for a wife back then so she was cast out and punished. Eve was then made from Adam's rib as a means of ensuring some sort of power hierarchy since she was made from him. It's not a widely known folktale but it is interesting.

There is a reference to "her" in the Bible, but it's unclear what exactly is being referenced: an ominous animal or a type of bad spirit. We learn about her mostly through medieval rabbinic writings (I'm blanking on the exact source at the moment), where it is explained that she was the woman created in the first description of creation in Genesis (where humanity is created from the earth) and because she was the man's equal, she refused to be on the bottom during sexual congress (she wanted to be on top, which is traditionally incredibly deviant behavior, going against all social norms). She left the Garden and even angels couldn't convince her to return. Out of spite and jealousy, she causes issues during pregnancies and births, though talismans with the names of the angels who spoke with her can protect pregnant women and newborns to a certain extent. In at least one tradition, she's also the demon that torments lone men at night -- every seminal emission impregnates her and she gives birth to demons.

He knows full well his power is useless. Usually he introduces himself with a tiny show of his power to intimidate people. But not gonna work here. So he goes for sewing doubt and work on Lucifer's existing fear of losing his daughter and not being a good dad. And it's kinda working a bit. Until More Than Anything when they each really reaffirm their father daughter relationship, respect for each other and hope to build that relationship further.

I can't help but wonder, since Sir Pentious ascended to heaven due to his redemption, if Adam will end up being reborn as a sinner/demon who's stuck in hell due to how bloodthirsty he was when it came to the exterminations, and also since the court in heaven knows about it now. It also would be interesting to see, I think. For Adam, being trapped in the one place he was so eager to slaughter within annually, is probably a fate even worse than death. I'm also curious to see how Pentious will fare in heaven, he's my favorite character. I can see him bonding with Emily pretty easily since she's so similar to Charlie.

Zestial is an overlord - one of the oldest ones in hell who wasn't killed by Alastor. Not much is known about him apart from the fact that a lot of the ordinary citizens of hell were running away from him in fear.

Val is probably one of the most heinous evil characters ever written. And episode 4 is an insanely brutal and painful look at sexual abuse. Jordan pours so much emotion into Angel's voice. You can hear him fighting tears with every ounce of strength he has. He wears a mask to hide the insane trauma and pain from his life. And Charlie got a tiny glimpse under that mask. He really does care for her and appreciate the chance she offers. But at the same time he sold his soul to Valentino and he can't just get out of that. Charlie maybe could dissolve it when she actually accepts her real power. Lucifer could likely do it. Regardless... Angel is one of the most well written characters I've ever seen. Slowly peeling back the bravado until we see the reason for it, and then getting to see Angel return to being Anthony. His genuine efforts and his obvious fear of not being worthy and what Val will do to him.

So my theory is that it's Lilith that's holding Alistor's contract. It's no coincidence that they were BOTH gone for 7 years and Alistor just happens to show up in the pilot just minutes after Charlie left a message for her mom. I think she sent him to help. And tangent theory, I think Alistor's whole "competition" with Lucifer in the Hell's Greatest Dad song was a deliberate attempt to get Lucifer to step up on the role he'd been neglecting. Probably not because Alistor actually cares, but might have been part of the job Lilith sent him to do. Betting the favor he calls in from Charlie is going to be to convince her mom to end his contract. Whether or not that'll fuck everyone at the Hotel over remains to be seen. Psychopath that he is, he does seem to be forming some attachment to the Hotel. I think he'll stab them in the back and some point and actually regret it.
