Yeah OEM Blocks are hit and miss.

Damn I'm so scared this is gonna happen. Should I just upgrade the piston or might as well do conrods and bearings?

Doesn't hurt the build the block before trying to push any power of it. For us we have access to a shop so it isn't a big deal. If you don't, I would build it right away.

If the stock motor fails, do not put a stock motor back in it. It is inevitable it will fail again.
