It's nice to see that young people like you are interested in older cars. Here in Germany these Golf 4s (we don't say Mark 4) are traded for very little money, most of the time the rockers are rusted through. Repairing them often exceeds the value, which is why they end up in the scrapyard. I still remember the VW Beetle as a new car in the showroom. Greetings from Germany.

I've got a late 2003 Mk4 Golf 1.9 diesel and have had it from 2005 and 3k miles. It's now done 56k and been garaged since i've had it. Cars from that era were probably the best, being uncomplicated with electronics and yet past the rust buckets of the 70's and 80's.

I still drive the five door version of this car. Same colour, same 1.4 petrol engine. Mine was bought new in 2000 and will be twenty five years old next year. Only got 87,500 miles on the clock and garaged every night. I put two new front wings on it last year because of rust. Great car built like a tank. Only trouble are the door locks they go bad. There was a VW recall years ago to replace them. Seems all VW models of that time had lock issues. Mine is so old it has wheel trims not alloys lol.

@@dinny7777 that's great! Yes it does seem the lock may be at fault on this one too sadly. I don't know if you've drove anything more modern at all but cars this age have so much more character

You’ve got that for an absolute steal mate honestly. I’ve only recently sold one of these in the exact same Colour, the only difference was Mine was over 100k. Still got £1750 for it but gone now are those days of cheap cars. Anything with a mot that’s running nowadays in reasonable order is £1500. Top buy that.😊

@@TheNicheStartup hi mate thanks for the feedback. I can't say margins are huge at the moment. With the odd exception like this, I'm buying slightly newer stuff with more margin and do a bit more prep myself. 400/500 average but growing with some of the newer stuff which is good. There's not many bargains in BCA but it's a very convenient way to buy a car

@@loyalty786 hi yes it does erase and monitor faults. It also does live data stream, special functions such as service lights, ABS bleeding, DPF regeneration, injector coding etc. Great buy!
