I'm currently rebuilding everything but the bottom end on my 01' 500 Rubicon. I know you haven't done a video on those, but some of the information in your videos have helped. Plus I just enjoy watching someone who has a real passion for what they are doing. You seem to have a lot of common sense and patience, which I believe is a must for performing this type of work and achieving good results. Just wanted to let you know that your efforts are appreciated by many of us. Thanks.

Been rebuilding my ‘94 KDX 200 that I got from the PO completely apart aside from the bottom end. It has been a journey getting it all back together and it’s pretty crazy how many little parts the guy did not give me lol. This is the second E series KDX I’ve rebuilt and the first one looked worse but was more complete. Your videos have been motivating me a ton!

36:07. I’ve always preferred using vaseline on gaskets or rubber hose. Keeps the gasket in place, makes it easier to remove, and doesn’t hurt anything. They both work, just figured I’d share. Great video as always, keep it up.
@Duckridingdirtbike
@Duckridingdirtbike 10 ай бұрын
You shouldn’t use Vaseline on rubber seals. The petroleum in the Vaseline deteriorates the rubber pretty quick making it porous. Try something like Molykote.

Working on rebuilding a 2012 Polaris RZR 900. Alot of your engine rebuilding videos are very helpful. BTW do not buy a blown up Polaris RZR unless you have around $5k sitting in the bank for parts. They can get very expensive, very quickly especially if you have to get into the bottom end.

Just finished a 2005 yfz rebuild. Added oil squirter. Motor has loud tapping what I believe is from wrong head gasket blocking oil to the valve train. Took the clutch side case off to see if squirter was hitting the piston. No evidence it was but it was loose! Pulled it out easily. Epoxy (jbweld) to make sure doesn't come loose again. Waiting on gasket. Cylinder Works big bore

Never EVER use gasket maker on a carb or intake tube. Gasoline will eventually break it down even if it is "Fuel Safe" and it will clog up pretty much every hole in the carb. I use a bit of Sticky Red Wheel Bearing grease to hold gaskets and O-Rings in place if I'm having any sort of trouble with them moving.

Well done on break in. Heating and cooling the rings without redlining it will make it long lasting. Frankly, the oil squirter was the cause of engine failure. Unlike auto engines, the crank has no oil galleries to provide lubrication and relies on the squirter to lubricate the rod bearing as well as provide splash oiling to the wrist pin and piston cooling. Really do enjoy your channel and your works in giving the bikes and quads a second chance at life. Beats the hell out of them going to the scrap yard!!

Incredible. You are killing it man. I have been rebuilding a carb for weeks 😅. And I probably have a few weeks to go on it. The bike will probably not run until next spring. 😅😅. It try everything except the thing it needs. Finding parts for these old carbs is like. That’s because I am mostly guessing. The part comes in and I try it and guess what? Order another kit that probably will not work. It’s probably not even a carb issue. 😮😮

You can also put a bearing or race in the freezer overnight and it will shrink it just enough to make it easier to tap into position the next day. I even have to do that with the wheel bearing grease seals on my trailer. :)

Easy way to remove the valves is to put a 14mm socket on the valve springs and tap with a hammer and to put back together just stuff a piece of paper towel in the socket put the keeper's ruffly in place and tap the socket while it's over the valve spring and keeper's and your done. Works everytime. Oh and the rod bearing gets oil from a passage that runs through the crankshaft. The oil squirter mod is more for the wrist pin .
