The 2000TC is the sweetest driving P6 of them all, really well balanced, and the extra BHP gives it the pep the P6 needed. I have a '69 V8 auto and it's a 4-door grand tourer, and I've had a '70 2000TC. It does handle better as the engine crossmember is in the right place.

Nice Video from another P6 enthusiast ,I have had a number of old Rovers and like you say the T.C. when right is probably the best . The one I have now is one of the last - a 2200 with alternator ,70,000 + miles and drives well ,but I decided to give it tidy and a check over in February this year . Even tho it looks and drives O.K. ,as it spent most of it"s life with another old Geezer after spending most of it"s life in the Channel Islands . What has been the worse and surprising thing about owning the Rover after quite a while since the last one is the struggle for some parts and the silly prices ?. The worse parts were ,the manifold ,they are prone to crack on the 4 cylinder single carb. ,couldn"t get a new one but found a parts only car in Bristol . A new water pump was a pain ,I got quoted £200 for a genuine old stock part and it was a real eye opener how many different water pumps were made for petrol & Diesel Rovers and it is the most complicated and multi parts component - I have ever seen on a simple water pump ,Rover had a weird idea about cooling the cars by shortening or lengthening the main shaft that the fan bolts to , leading to interesting talks with parts suppliers ! The Carb is another expensive item ,£550 for a single carb from S.U. or nearly £1450 for the twin carb - set up . .My everyday driver is a old M.G.b which is cheaper to run ,but it"s a bit " agricultural " but it could be because of a complete mechanical rebuild .But my old Rover is a keeper and apart from no power steering is just ,Great ! .

My dad owned a 1968 2000TC in exactly the same colour. However, it had cream leather seats. He also had the 'continental kit' to mount the spare wheel on the bootlid. I remember it being a really comfortable and relatively quick car. It did need a head gasket done once but otherwise dad said it was very reliable. He had it for about five years. I think the P6's still look modern nowadays. Keep the great videos coming!

Unfortunately, the Rover 2000 TC wasn't designed to run in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan winters. Great in the warmer weather, Choke linkage and anti smog system couldn't handle the cold weather (ie. -35 F). Too bad as I loved this car for its quality otherwise and performance.

Great to see Lucas he always makes me chuckle. Totally agree about the sound of a 2000 compared to the 2200. If I remember correctly the 2000 TC had bigger carbs . I also prefer the series 1 look as it has a wonderful purity of line that was missing after the facelift. A comparison between the models is a great idea for the channel would be a great help to those new to the P6

@classic_britain2 жыл бұрын
Nah the V8 is overrated a well sorted 2.2TC is just as fast as a V8 auto
@vincentsmith83452 жыл бұрын
The Police trialed the 2200 for area cars that's where they stayed as the V8 was far superior for motor way and traffic duties,it was the same fate handed to the 2300-2600 sd1s left as area cars the V8 sd1 far superior for the motorway and traffic cars.
@classic_britain2 жыл бұрын
@@vincentsmith8345 Yeah know but they kept the 4 cylinder cars as area cars because they handle much better
@vincentsmith83452 жыл бұрын
@@classic_britain they were kept as area cars not for handling but cheaper around the city the truimph 2500 was also and area car due to being slightly quicker and better handling for traffic, you have to remember all the TCs had no power steering, police vechiles were stripped right down for the no thrills aspect. That's why the sd1 was stock piled by the Met police all of their last vechiles were V8se or vdps.

My dad had a second-hand Rover P6 2000 2L version when I was a little wee nipper in the late 1970s. Loved it and sitting up front just felt special. All that changed when he got rid of it and got an Austin Montego in the mid 80s. Like it but the Rover was pure class of old British engineering from a bygone era.

Lovely example and I'd be loath to part with it although I do of course understand your rationale behind the buying and selling, not to mention the fact that if you just bought a perfect car and drove it, there would be no content for the channel. One question, (no doubt you mentioned it but don't recall in any of your other videos), why haven't you got your license after all this time? Feel free to ignore this question if the answer is too awkward - I do have a friend who passed on this tenth time and on getting his licence decided to give up driving.
